Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation (DT) is considered an important foundation and driving force, creating opportunities for enterprises, cooperatives and farmers to promote their role as subjects and master technology. Thereby, contributing to the successful implementation of the goal of industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas.
Agriculture takes the lead in digital transformation
After the province's merger, Dong Nai has even more potential to attract high-tech investment in both livestock and crop fields.
Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Van Thang shared: In the context that the whole country is promoting the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo, the agricultural and environmental sector of Dong Nai province identifies digital transformation as a strategic pillar, both a breakthrough solution and an important driving force for the development of modern, ecological and sustainable agriculture.
Up to now, digital transformation work in the agricultural sector has achieved important initial results. Specifically, awareness and thinking about digital transformation in the whole sector have been significantly improved. Information technology infrastructure and industry data have been invested in a synchronous and concentrated manner; implementing items such as: Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure, land, crop, environment databases and electronic management information systems. The provincial agricultural and environmental sector has promoted administrative reform and online public services; enhanced the application of science, technology and innovation in production, environmental monitoring, forest protection, pest monitoring, data management of growing areas and packaging facilities. Ensuring safety, network security and digital data, gradually building a foundation for a smart, modern, interconnected management model between agencies in the province's political system.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, said: Dong Nai is a province with great potential in agriculture. However, the current state of local agriculture still faces many challenges such as climate change, labor shortage, low production efficiency and waste of resources. According to data from the agricultural sector, crop productivity in the province only reaches 70-80% of its potential due to the lack of high technology application and unsynchronized digital data. In the context of national digitalization, linking science and technology with digitalization becomes a key driving force, helping to improve productivity, reduce costs and increase the value of agricultural products.
In the period of 2025-2026, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Nai province set out key tasks such as: completing investment in information technology infrastructure for the agricultural and environmental sectors; building a database for the crop and environmental sectors; deploying crop maps and mobile applications for data lookup; setting up a camera system for early detection of forest fires, automatic pest monitoring stations and smart environmental warning systems; applying artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze environmental monitoring data...
Accompanying farmers in digital transformation
Supporting enterprises, cooperatives and farmers in applying digital transformation is one of the issues that the agricultural sector as well as the Farmers' Association of Dong Nai province are interested in.
Recently, the Provincial Farmers' Association and FPT Polytechnic College (in Tam Hiep Ward) signed a cooperation agreement to support training and improve digital skills for members and farmers; support consulting and deploying digital transformation solutions in production; coordinate promotion and trade promotion for OCOP products and key agricultural products of the province. In particular, support enterprises, cooperatives, and farmers in trade promotion activities, participating in selling agricultural products on e-commerce platforms and social networks.
Master Tran Duy Phong, Director of FPT Polytechnic College, said: By 2024, about 30% of agricultural enterprises in Vietnam will have applied one or more digital technologies to production. About 10% of agricultural export enterprises have applied blockchain. E-commerce plays an important role in the digital transformation of the agricultural sector. Here, digital transformation in agriculture is not only a story of technology but also a story of people - knowledge - connection. FPT Polytechnic College is committed to supporting sustainable digital transformation of agriculture; accompanying Dong Nai province and local enterprises to bring digital transformation closer to farmers, cooperatives, and agricultural enterprises. In particular, the school is interested in implementing the Training - Practice - Accompanying Program for Digital Transformation of Agriculture.
Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association Nguyen Huu Nguyen shared: In the context of deep integration and globalization today, the application of digital technology, high technology and smart technology is not only an inevitable trend but also a vital requirement for Dong Nai agriculture to increase productivity, improve product quality and overcome strict trade barriers. Farmers' Associations at all levels are interested in deploying to farmers and cooperatives the orientation of digital transformation in agriculture; introducing digital platforms in production management, traceability; and digital transformation solutions to improve operational efficiency for agricultural enterprises, cooperatives and production and business establishments in the agricultural sector. Farmers' Associations at all levels will be a bridge for members, farmers and cooperatives to maximize access to opportunities in exchanging information, sharing experiences, seeking partners and signing cooperation agreements, thereby contributing to creating new breakthroughs for Dong Nai's digital agriculture.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Van Thang, digital transformation is not only an inevitable trend but also a key driving force for the agricultural and environmental sectors of Dong Nai province to break through, develop modernly, integrate and sustainably. With the spirit of innovative thinking, decisive action, and taking the effectiveness of serving people and businesses as a measure, the agricultural and environmental sectors of Dong Nai province are determined to build a modern, sustainable agriculture, applying high technology and comprehensive digital transformation, contributing to improving the productivity, quality and value of agricultural products of the province.
