This is called the ketox weight loss method, combining the two keto and detox regimens. That is, dieters will adhere to cutting down on starch, sugar, adding good fats and protein (keto). At the same time, drinking pure fruit juices, vegetables, herbal teas... are advertised to help detoxify the body (detox).

According to the regimen, in 7 days, Huyen will only drink 6 bottles of nutritional water in order, every 2-3 hours, without consuming any foods containing starch or sugar.

Huyền shared that on the first day she felt "quite light, not feeling tired or too hungry, only having a little trouble falling asleep". However, in the following days, she described "craving food and feeling terribly tired". Huyền tried to drink a lot of water, cut down on work to clear her mind and went to bed early to forget the "tormenting" hunger. As a result, the girl lost 2.5 kg, but gained 2 kg back the following month due to returning to her old diet.

Also applying ketox by drinking 6 bottles of juice every day, Ha Linh, 31 years old, in Cau Giay, had to give up on the 4th day because of low blood pressure. The woman, 1.6 meters tall and weighing 65 kg, said that when she first started, because she was not mentally prepared, she thought everything would go smoothly. Trying until the 3rd day, her body was tired, lack of sleep led to exhaustion, lying flat. Finally, Linh had to be given an IV and was advised by the doctor to supplement her nutrition again.

Doctor Phan Thai Tan, Homefit weight loss health coach, said that the ketox diet is a combination of the keto method (cutting starch to less than 5%) and detox - eliminating sugar, animal protein or spices, instead of drinking vegetable and fruit juices instead of filtered water in a suitable way to detoxify the body, supporting the weight loss process. This method is similar to the juicing detox method, that is, instead of just drinking vegetable and fruit juices, ketox adds herbal teas, fruit teas, the person applying does not need to cook or prepare anything else.

The weight loss mechanism of this method is to only allow the body to take in a maximum of 1,000-1,200 Kcal per day - the minimum calorie level to lose weight in a short time. The person applying will supplement with drinking about 6 bottles of juice, herbal tea, each bottle about 250-300 ml. The duration for a course is about 5-14 days, the most common courses are 7 and 10 days.

The advantage of this method is that it helps practitioners cut a large amount of calories, about 500-1,000 Kcal per day, putting the body into a state of "ketosis" - optimizing fat burning speed. Harmful foods such as industrial products, sugar and sweets, fast-absorbing starch, and animal protein are also eliminated.

In addition, with a low-calorie diet, practitioners will need to focus on a healthy lifestyle such as drinking lots of water, sleeping early, listening to their bodies to balance work, and paying attention to breathing. These things are both to fight hunger and to save energy, thereby bringing about results such as losing 2-3 kg in a week, reducing belly fat, brighter skin, less acne, a healthier digestive system, and improved taste.

However, maintaining low energy levels for a long time can cause hypoglycemia and stomach pain. In particular, groups with health problems such as people with thyroid disease, blood pressure, blood sugar, pregnant women, and breastfeeding women should consult a nutritionist. Stop eating if you have signs of hypoglycemia such as dizziness, vomiting, excessive headache or problems that can harm your health such as stomach pain, muscle weakness, diarrhea. Those who want to apply it need to prepare mentally and have time, avoid fear and excessive anxiety that will make the body hungry and give up easily.

However, most experts agree that weight loss is a process. Doctor Dang Ngoc Hung, Institute of Nutrition Research and Consulting, believes that with safe and sustainable weight loss methods, the person will lose weight slowly, depending on their physical condition, initially 0.5-1kg/month, then gradually increase 1-3kg/month and should only stop at this level to be safe for the body.

The principle of weight loss is to aim for a healthy lifestyle, transforming body weight by reducing fat mass and increasing muscle mass. "In many cases, weight does not decrease but there is a big change in fat loss and muscle gain, that is still a success," said Dr. Hung.
