Vietnam advocates promoting legal, safe and orderly migration

(Chinhphu.vn) – The Vietnamese Government advocates promoting legal, safe and orderly migration, while resolutely combating illegal migration, smuggling of migrants and human trafficking.

At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of May 29, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang affirmed: "The Vietnamese Government advocates promoting legal, safe and orderly migration, while resolutely combating illegal migration, smuggling of migrants and human trafficking."

Vietnam is currently making efforts to implement the goals of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) according to the Plan issued by the Prime Minister on March 20, 2020 to create a transparent migration environment and protect the legitimate rights and interests of migrants.

Regarding Vietnam's cooperation with other countries, Ms. Pham Thu Hang clearly stated that Vietnam has been promoting cooperation with other countries and organizations, including the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), to prevent, detect, investigate, and handle illegal migration networks in accordance with the law.

Vietnam is ready to cooperate with relevant countries and parties, in accordance with signed cooperation frameworks, international law and international practices, on the principle of timely protecting the legitimate rights and interests of migrants and respecting their dignity.
