Vietnamese sports aims to win 80 to 100 gold medals at the 33rd SEA Games, taking place in December in Thailand.

At the 2025 Victory Cup award announcement ceremony held this morning (November 5), Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet, Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration, shared about the goals of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 33rd SEA Games.

"The Vietnamese sports delegation strives to win 80 to 100 gold medals, to be in the top group of the whole delegation, determined to achieve the highest possible ranking, maintain its position, achievements in Olympic sports and its strengths," affirmed Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet.

According to the sports industry leader, the year 2025 will be full of events, many milestones, and many achievements of Vietnamese sports, starting with the AFF Cup championship of the men's football team, and condensing at the 33rd SEA Games where teams in all sports are ready to explode, to achieve the highest results.

The Victory Cup is an award known as the "Oscar of Vietnamese sports", with the mission of honoring the values, achievements and noble sportsmanship of Vietnam, honoring the best athletes, coaches, individuals and groups of the year.

However, the list of candidates for the 2025 Victory Cup title has not yet been revealed. The reason is that the Vietnamese sports delegation is preparing for the 33rd SEA Games. The achievements at the playground taking place in Thailand in December will be the basis for evaluating the title.

The organizing committee decided to only "finalize" the nomination list of the categories and conduct the voting after the 33rd SEA Games, the biggest international event of the year for Vietnamese sports, in order to select the best and most deserving groups and individuals.

There are two rounds of voting, including round 1 for audiences and fans nationwide, and round 2 by a voting panel consisting of managers, experts and prestigious sports journalists in charge of a strict and transparent process and method. Along with careful investment and preparation in all aspects, the organizing committee will announce the list and voting method to create the most convenient conditions for audience voting in the "peak month" (expected from December 25, 2025 to January 25, 2026).

Looking for the best

Since its first season in 2015, the Victory Cup has become the most prestigious award in the Vietnamese sports community. Over the past decade, the award has recognized more than 100 outstanding faces, from sports legends to young stars reaching the continental and world level.

Names such as Nguyen Thi Anh Vien, Quach Thi Lan, Nguyen Huy Hoang, Do Hung Dung, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Hoang Xuan Vinh, Nguyen Quang Hai... have each stepped onto the podium of the Victory Cup, creating a "memory museum" of Vietnamese sports for a decade.

The 2025 Victory Cup continues to maintain 11 voting categories, comprehensively reflecting all areas of Vietnamese sports, including: male athlete of the year; female athlete of the year; young athlete of the year; coach of the year; team of the year; teammate of the year; most beloved athlete; outstanding disabled sports athlete of the year; impressive sports images and moments of the year; lifetime achievement award and outstanding foreign expert of the year.

The record prize money continues to be maintained by the organizers with a total of up to 750 million VND for 11 categories. Of which, the highest prize money, 100 million VND, is reserved for individuals and groups that win prizes in 3 categories: male athlete of the year, female athlete of the year and team of the year.
