The program attracted about 120 delegates from travel, hotel, transportation and aviation businesses of the two countries.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ha Van Sieu - Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, emphasized that the Vietnam - Australia relationship, after being upgraded to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March 2024, has opened up many opportunities for extensive cooperation in the tourism sector.

Immediately following this milestone, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism coordinated with Austrade to organize connection activities in Melbourne and Perth, and launched a tourism promotion program in Melbourne in September 2024.

He said that Australia is currently one of the 10 largest tourist markets of Vietnam, with nearly 491,000 arrivals in 2024, an increase of 26% over the previous year; in the first 10 months of 2025, it will reach more than 447,000 arrivals, continuing to increase by over 13%. These figures show the attractiveness of Vietnam as a destination and the growing potential for cooperation between businesses of the two countries.

"Vietnam possesses a system of cultural and natural heritage sites recognized by UNESCO, more than 3,000 km of coastline and international-standard resort and entertainment infrastructure, meeting the diverse tastes of Australian tourists. Rich cuisine, convenient air connections and a safe tourism environment continue to strengthen Vietnam's position in this market," said Mr. Ha Van Sieu.

He affirmed that this promotion program not only promotes the image of Vietnam but also strengthens the connection between businesses of the two countries, aiming to make tourism a prominent field of cooperation in the Vietnam - Australia relationship, with the support of the Government and representative agencies of both sides.

Also sharing at the event, Counselor Le Thuy Trang (Vietnamese Embassy in Australia) emphasized that the Vietnam - Australia relationship is at its strongest stage of development.

In that context, she assessed that the program to introduce Vietnamese tourism in Melbourne is a practical step, contributing to realizing cooperation commitments, in line with the Strategy to Enhance Vietnam - Australia Economic Engagement.

"Tourism between the two countries is enjoying many advantages thanks to the good bilateral relationship, the steady growth of two-way tourist numbers, the community of more than 350,000 Vietnamese people in Australia playing an important bridging role, along with the support of government agencies and businesses through the expansion of direct flights, development of tourism products and favorable visa policies," said Ms. Trang.

She affirmed that the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia will continue to act as a bridge to promote tourism cooperation and hopes to soon welcome Australian tourists to Vietnam to experience authentic and rich values.

The Australian market is considered to have great potential thanks to high spending levels, long stays and the need to experience safe, friendly and culturally rich destinations - which are the strengths of Vietnamese tourism.

Favorable e-visa policies, direct flight networks from Melbourne, Sydney, Perth to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and attractive Vietnamese cuisine help Vietnam become the top choice of Australian tourists.

According to InsideAsia Tours, the number of Australian tourists booking tours to Vietnam increased by 46% in the first half of the year.

Vietnam was recorded as the fastest growing destination for Australian visitors in April 2025, reaching 28.5%. In the first 10 months of the year, Australia maintained its position in the top 10 largest sending markets with 447,470 arrivals.
