Vietnam welcomes US decision to suspend reciprocal tariffs for 90 days

On the afternoon of April 10, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , in response to a reporter's question asking for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' comments and Vietnam's upcoming measures in response to the April 9 announcement by US President Donald Trump of a temporary stop applying reciprocal tax for 90 days with more than 75 countries, including Vietnam, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated:

“We believe that the US decision to stop the attack Countervailing tax The 90-day suspension of exports from countries to the United States, including Vietnam, is a positive step.

According to the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the spirit of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, Vietnam will negotiate with the United States on a reciprocal trade agreement, on the basis of mutual respect, to achieve satisfactory solutions towards fair and sustainable trade and to meet the interests of the people and businesses of the two countries.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang affirmed that this demonstrates the spirit of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, as well as the spirit of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The spokesperson added that 2025 is the year Vietnam and the United States celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations; therefore, there will be many commemorative activities this year, including the exchange of delegations at all levels. Foreign affairs activities will be announced later.
