At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on November 6, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said that in recent times, in the face of complicated developments in online fraud and cybercrime, Vietnam has gradually improved the legal framework on telecommunications management and network security to create effective tools to prevent violations in cyberspace, aiming to build a safe, transparent and people-oriented network environment.
"I believe that most of the reporters here have just attended an important multilateral diplomatic event of Vietnam in 2025, which is the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime. Through this event, Vietnam has clearly demonstrated its commitment to join hands with the United Nations and member states in responding to cybercrime, which has been increasing and becoming more complicated in recent times. This has been clearly demonstrated through the signing ceremony of the Hanoi Convention and related high-level conferences," said Ms. Pham Thu Hang.
According to the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, domestic and international press have reported and commented on Vietnam's proactive pioneering connection and commitment in this activity.
In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with ministries, sectors and functional agencies, is actively discussing with partner countries to establish a cooperation mechanism to improve the effectiveness of protecting Vietnamese citizens abroad, as well as strengthen the fight against organized crime and high-tech crime in countries.
At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed Vietnamese representative agencies abroad to closely monitor the situation and prepare plans, while closely coordinating with domestic and local authorities to promptly deploy citizen protection measures when necessary.
