Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong shared about the orientation of rural tourism development.

The program aims to identify challenges and share experiences to promote rural tourism cooperation; orient policies for sustainable rural tourism development, ensuring equitable benefits; contributing to the three pillars of sustainability - economic, social and environmental - in line with the United Nations' sustainable development goals.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong affirmed that Vietnam has paid attention to developing unique and diverse types of agricultural and rural tourism products and services in Vietnam. In addition, localities have continuously promoted connecting tours and expanding the space to welcome visitors to the countryside.

In addition, tourism contributes to changing the face of many rural areas, turning many areas with limited development conditions into “livable countryside”. Rural tourism also shifts the economic structure, preserves the values of landscape, ecology, environment and traditional cultural identity.

According to the Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam is an agricultural country with more than 70% of the population living in rural areas. These are valuable resources that provide different experience values, contributing to attracting tourists to rural areas. However, agricultural and rural tourism models in remote areas of Vietnam are small-scale, unprofessional, facing difficulties in transport infrastructure and other socio-economic conditions, and limited investment resources.

Quang Nam Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet affirmed that the locality has many competitive advantages in developing rural tourism.

Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet - Secretary of Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee said that agricultural and rural tourism in the locality began to take shape in 2010 and has developed strongly since 2013. With its inherent advantages, Quang Nam is truly a major tourist center of the country. It is estimated that over 30% of visitors to Quang Nam experience agricultural and rural tourism products. In the coming time, Quang Nam will continue to make efforts to develop the local tourism industry in the direction of green tourism. Localities will gradually improve to leave a good impression in the eyes of international friends, contributing to the implementation of net zero tourism according to the roadmap committed by the Vietnamese Government.

Vietnam currently has 3 villages recognized as the Best Tourist Villages by UN Tourism: Thai Hai village, Thai Nguyen province in 2022; Tan Hoa village, Quang Binh province in 2023; Tra Que vegetable village, Quang Nam province in 2024.
