Vietnam and Russia strengthen cooperation in education, science, technology and innovation

The two sides are determined to deepen the strategic cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in the fields ofeducation , science, technology and innovation (S&T).

At the invitation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, from September 23 to 28, a working delegation of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam led by Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat visited and worked in the Russian Federation.

On September 24, a working delegation of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam worked with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation to exchange, discuss and agree on measures to implement the agreements reached in the Joint Statement on deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership on the basis of 30 years of implementing the Treaty on the Fundamental Principles of Vietnam-Russia Friendship Relations, which was approved during the State visit to Vietnam by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in June 2024.

At the meeting, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation VI Falkov affirmed that the Russian Federation and Vietnam have a traditional friendly relationship. Along with the development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, cooperation in the field of science, technology and innovation is increasingly developing in both breadth and depth.

Minister VI Falkov emphasized a number of important milestones in the cooperation between the two countries in education, science and technology. Specifically, in the context of the 30th anniversary of the implementation of the Treaty on the basic principles of the friendship between the Russian Federation and Vietnam, the leaders of the two countries signed a new Agreement on cooperation in the field of higher education, aiming to further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries; At the 25th meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee of the two countries on September 11, 2024, both sides affirmed to continue to consolidate and constantly develop the comprehensive strategic partnership, the traditional friendship between the two countries and the two peoples. The two sides also agreed on many specific measures to further promote bilateral cooperation in many fields, including science, technology and education. Also at this session, the two sides held the 5th meeting of the Russia-Vietnam Cooperation Committee in the fields of education, science and technology to summarize, evaluate and review cooperation contents, and determine cooperation directions for the coming period...

Minister Huynh Thanh Dat expressed his pleasure at visiting and working with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and having the opportunity to directly discuss with Minister VI Falkov about issues of mutual interest in the fields of science, technology and innovation.

Minister Huynh Thanh Dat emphasized that, along with the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, cooperation between the two countries in the fields of science, technology and innovation is increasingly developing in both breadth and depth. In November 2014, the two governments signed an agreement on strategic partnership in the fields of education, science and technology, marking an important milestone in the cooperation in science and technology between the two countries. To date, the two countries have made significant progress in strengthening and developing mutually beneficial cooperation in education, training, science and technology and innovation.

At the meeting, the two sides reviewed the 10-year implementation of the Agreement, exchanged, discussed and agreed on specific directions and measures to strengthen and deepen the strategic cooperation relationship between the two countries in the fields of science, technology and innovation.

With the aim of further strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the fields of science, technology and innovation in the coming time, Minister Huynh Thanh Dat proposed a number of cooperation orientations and contents, including: annually organizing meetings of the Vietnam - Russian Federation Cooperation Committee on education and science and technology; annually organizing the selection of joint research cooperation tasks; strengthening cooperation in basic research, application-oriented basic research in the fields of natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, especially in the fields of marine science and basic science; enhancing the exchange, cooperation and transfer of new technologies suitable to Vietnam's conditions in the fields of strengths of the Russian Federation such as materials technology (advanced materials, including metals, polymers and high-tech materials), new energy, environmentally friendly energy and resource saving, information and communication technology, nanotechnology, automation and machine manufacturing, artificial intelligence technology; Increase delegation exchanges to participate in major science, technology and innovation events held in the two countries.
