On April 20, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , in response to a reporter's question asking about Vietnam's reaction to China's issuance of a fishing ban in the East Sea from May 1 to August 16, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Doan Khac Viet emphasized:

Vietnam’s stance on China’s fishing ban in the East Sea is consistent and has been clearly stated over the years. China’s fishing ban not only violates Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago, but also violates Vietnam’s sovereign rights and jurisdiction over its exclusive economic zone as defined in the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Vietnam demands that China respect Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago and its sovereign rights and jurisdiction over Vietnam's maritime zones, not complicate the situation, and contribute to maintaining peace , stability, and order in the East Sea region.

* Regarding the protection of Vietnamese citizens in the context of the prolonged armed conflict in Sudan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Doan Khac Viet said that according to information from the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt and Sudan, there is currently 1 citizen of Vietnamese and Australian nationality living in the capital Khartoum and 16 Vietnamese crew members on board the ship at Port Sudan port who are still safe. The Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt and Sudan is closely monitoring the situation and is ready to deploy necessary protection measures to ensure the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens.

* Responding to reporters' questions about Vietnam's plan to bring back some Vietnamese royal decrees that were auctioned in China, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Doan Khac Viet said that, following the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after working with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Phu Tho province, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Shanghai (China) worked with the relevant agencies of Shanghai city to request a temporary suspension of the auction of these royal decrees. On April 19, a representative of the Shanghai Culture and Tourism Bureau announced the decision to temporarily suspend the auction, ready to coordinate with the Vietnamese side to provide relevant information. In the coming time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and localities, and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad to closely follow the developments of the case.
