According to data released by the i-Speed platform of the Vietnam Internet Center, in April 2025, the mobile broadband network speed of telecommunications service providers in Vietnam was improved simultaneously. Of which, Viettel had the best mobile network quality, with a download speed of 88.97 Mbps and an upload speed of 27.98 Mbps.

In the field of next-generation wireless technology, 5G network quality also made a leap forward in April, with the average nationwide download speed reaching 354.88 Mbps; while the upload speed reached 94.92 Mbps.
With its strengths in technology and investment in network infrastructure, Viettel continues to affirm its leading position in 5G network speed. The average download speed of Viettel's 5G network in April 2025 reached 364.43 Mbps, while the upload speed was 97.6 Mbps; contributing to improving user experience and promoting digital transformation in Vietnam. The Military Telecom Company also recorded more than 6.2 million 5G users at present after half a year of launch.
5G “dominates” major cities
In terms of geographical area, Da Nang city continues to maintain its leading position in 5G network quality with an impressive average speed of 393.84 Mbps, followed by Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho and Hai Phong, affirming the strong development momentum of 5G in major cities.
Previously, according to data displayed from September 2024 (coinciding with the time when Viettel - the first commercial 5G network "turned on" and officially launched) to February 2025 by i-Speed, the 5G network in Vietnam had a download speed of 187.58 Mbps, an upload speed of 34.87 Mbps; 3 times higher than 4G at the same time.

Resolution 57 of the Politburo sets the goal that by 2030, Vietnam will have advanced, modern digital technology infrastructure, super-large capacity, super-wide bandwidth on par with advanced countries, and a 5G mobile broadband network covering the whole country.
Resolution 193 of the National Assembly mentions financial support for businesses to quickly deploy 5G. Accordingly, telecommunications businesses that quickly deploy 5G infrastructure and have at least 20,000 transmission stations accepted and put into use from the effective date of the Resolution on February 19 to December 31 will be supported with 15% of the equipment costs for the stations.
In October 2024, Viettel launched the first and largest 5G network in Vietnam with 6,500 transmission stations, ensuring outdoor coverage of over 90% of the capital areas of 63 provinces and cities, industrial parks, schools, airports, seaports, etc. At the same time, it said that it has plans to expand coverage to district centers, where there are many residents in 2025 and launch some more features and products in the 5G ecosystem such as: AR/VR, SmartCall, YouTube Premium, etc.
In December 2024, Vinaphone also announced the commercialization of 5G, operating on the 3,700 - 3,800 MHz frequency band. At the end of March 2025, Mobifone officially announced the provision of commercial 5G services in Vietnam. In the first phase, MobiFone's 5G network will be deployed in central areas of major provinces and cities.
Thus, most network operators have officially deployed 5G to realize nationwide 5G coverage according to Resolution 57 of the Politburo. The strong increase in 5G demand from users poses many prospects for explosive 5G development in Vietnam./.
