VinFast reveals the future of the VF Wild electric pickup truck in Indonesia

At the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2025 exhibition, VinFast launched the VF Wild model, marking the first time this pure electric pickup truck has appeared in Indonesia.

The Vinfast VF Wild electric pickup truck has a bold futuristic design language, featuring frameless “suicide doors” – a feature commonly found on high-end electric vehicles. This event is a strategic move by VinFast to survey the Indonesian market’s response to the 4-wheel drive electric pickup truck segment.

“With VF Wild, we want to listen to real market feedback,” said Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto, general director of VinFast Indonesia, on the sidelines of the exhibition. “We have a prototype, but we need to carefully evaluate its potential to decide the next step.”

Currently, the Indonesian market has only one officially distributed electric pickup model – Trekker T9 EV by JAC Motors (China), which has a design similar to the Toyota Hilux. Meanwhile, VF Wild chooses a bolder approach with a distinct and highly recognizable design style.

VinFast said the VF Wild is still in the process of finalizing the design and specifications, including battery configuration and pricing. Although it has not confirmed its commercial production plan, the company left open the possibility of launching the VF Wild in Indonesia if it receives positive signals from consumers.

Technical information about the VF Wild is still limited. As announced at CES 2024, this pickup model has a large size with a length of 5,324 mm and a width of 1,997 mm. One of the highlights is that the rear cargo bed can be extended from 1.5 meters to 2.4 meters when the second row of seats is folded, significantly increasing the cargo capacity.

The VF Wild was developed in collaboration between VinFast and design studio GoMotiv, with a total development time of up to 8,000 hours. This is part of the Vietnamese carmaker's efforts to expand its global product portfolio, especially in the context of increasing competition in the multi-purpose electric vehicle segment.
