Speaking at the opening ceremony, comrade Nguyen Loc Ha emphasized that the conference is one of the important international events, with profound significance for Vietnam; especially valuable for the new development journey of Ho Chi Minh City - the country's leading urban area in terms of economy , science and technology, innovation, nurturing the aspiration to become a global metropolis and an international financial center of the region.
For the first time in 23 years of establishment, the ICF Summit was held in Southeast Asia, Ho Chi Minh City - Vietnam.
For more than a decade, the World Smart Community Forum has accompanied the former Binh Duong province on its journey to build a pioneering smart community in Vietnam.
From being present in SMART21 many times, being continuously honored in the Top 7 to the title of World Smart Community of the Year 2023, Binh Duong Smart Community has proven that a locality with strategic vision and persistent determination can completely reach the highest international standards.
Today, Binh Duong has become a region in the development space of Ho Chi Minh City. The city is entering a period of extensive restructuring and development, based on the future philosophy of a modern megacity that must be built from knowledge, science and technology, innovation and sustainable development.
These orientations are consistent with the development model pursued by ICF, reflecting the general trend of pioneering cities in the world, where technology, innovation and sustainable development are the drivers of long-term growth.
“One of the city's important goals is to strongly spread the smart community model to many localities throughout the urban space; aiming for more and more provinces and cities in Vietnam to register their names in SMART21, enter the Top 7, and further achieve the title of World Smart Community of the Year," said comrade Nguyen Loc Ha.
According to the Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the city is committed to continuing to improve the quality of life, improve public services, develop modern digital infrastructure and expand the innovation ecosystem.
In that spirit, Ho Chi Minh City respectfully invites the world's leading smart communities, international experts, scientists, strategic investors and global partners to continue sharing experiences, expanding cooperation, and accompanying the city on its development journey based on knowledge, technology and innovation.
Previously, comrade Nguyen Loc Ha received the ICF Smart Community Forum delegation within the framework of the ICF Global Summit 2025.
At the reception, Mr. John G. Jung, Chairman and Co-founder of the ICF Smart Community Forum, thanked the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City for creating conditions for ICF to organize the ICF Global Summit 2025.
Mr. John G. Jung believes that with its strategic vision and orientation, Ho Chi Minh City will continue to be a place to connect global smart communities, attract investment and international talent, and improve the quality of life of the city's residents.
