Ho Chi Minh City assigns project management boards to take over waste treatment work.

The Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a document announcing the conclusion of Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Minh Thanh on the budget estimate for the last 6 months of 2025 for the collection, transportation and treatment of domestic solid waste in communes, wards, special zones and units in the former Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau regions (commune level).

Accordingly, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Minh Thanh agreed to assign the Binh Duong Construction Investment Project Management Board; Binh Duong Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board; Ba Ria - Vung Tau Regional and Agricultural Traffic Project Management Board and Ba Ria - Vung Tau Traffic and Civil Project Management Board to take over the task of managing the transportation and treatment of solid waste; sweeping, collecting and cleaning garbage on the streets, in public areas, cleaning public trash bins... from the previous commune-level People's Committees from July 1; at the same time, coordinate with the commune-level People's Committees to calculate and determine the volume; make cost estimates; bid to select environmental sanitation service providers to continue implementation from the beginning of 2026.

The People's Committee at the commune level is responsible for handing over all documents, inspection records, confirmations, volume calculation documents, contracts, etc. in 2025 under its management to the Project Management Boards for receipt and management.

The Department of Finance is assigned to preside over and guide the Project Management Boards and relevant units to estimate the budget for the field of environmental protection in 2025 and synthesize and advise the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to submit to the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City to adjust the budget allocation for 2025; synthesize the state budget estimate for 2025 for the task of spending on the collection, transportation and treatment of domestic solid waste in the former Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau areas; advise the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to submit to the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City to approve the Resolution on budget allocation in the nearest session.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment is assigned to issue a document guiding the development of a collection and transportation plan according to the new administrative unit to develop a plan for maximum prices for collection, transportation and treatment of domestic solid waste and specific unit prices for households, individuals and organizations to pay for collection, transportation and treatment of domestic solid waste.
