Dak Lak: Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh visits and gives gifts to people affected by storm No. 13

On the afternoon of November 8, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh and the Government delegation inspected and visited families affected by storm No. 13 in Xuan Canh commune, Dak Lak province.

According to a quick report from the People's Committee of Xuan Canh commune, after storm No. 13, the entire commune had 25 houses completely collapsed; estimated damage was about 7.5 billion VND. 447 houses had their roofs blown off, estimated damage was 67 billion VND. Over 70% of the aquaculture cages in the entire commune were completely damaged. Inter-village and inter-hamlet concrete roads were damaged, estimated damage was 74 billion VND. Some headquarters, agencies, and schools in the area had their roofs blown off, estimated damage was 50 billion VND.

Directly visiting and giving gifts to encourage households in Xuan Canh commune, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh sympathized with the difficulties of people who suffered heavy losses after the storm; at the same time, he hoped that households would continue to make efforts to overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives.

In Xuan Canh commune, many households suffered heavy damage after the storm. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nhau (born in 1950, living alone) had her house completely destroyed by the storm. The roof of the house of Mr. Nguyen Van Gio and his wife (a poor family) was also blown off, and they are currently staying at a relative's house. Faced with the above circumstances, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh gave gifts, encouraged, and requested the local authorities to promptly consider and support the reconstruction of the house so that the elderly have a stable place to eat and live.

Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh requested localities to review, compile statistics and make reports on damages to have timely support plans. In the long term, there needs to be assessments and summaries to establish disaster response plans suitable for each locality and region to minimize damage to people's lives and property.

Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh also visited and encouraged teachers and students of Cu Chinh Lan Primary and Secondary School and asked the school to continue to make efforts to overcome difficulties and quickly remedy the consequences so that students can return to school soon.
