On the evening of June 4, in Nha Trang city, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest One Member Limited Liability Company jointly organized the Ceremony to honor Folk Knowledge and Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Festival as National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The Bird's Nest Festival is held annually on the 10th day of the 5th lunar month, originating from the worship of the island's owner, Holy Mother Le Thi Huyen Tram, and the heroes who founded the bird's nest industry.
Over time, the festival has become a unique cultural symbol associated with the homeland's islands. This is a testament to the efforts to preserve the heritage of Khanh Hoa province and the bird's nest harvesting community on the islands.
The heritage of bird's nest is not only a cultural value but also an important economic resource. The bird's nest industry creates jobs for thousands of local workers, contributing to the sustainable development of the marine economy.
At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest is a national brand with great socio-economic value. At the 2025 festival, taking place from June 6 to June 9, activities honoring the cultural identity and history of this land will be held, including a traditional ceremony on Hon Noi Island, a photo exhibition of the industry, a culinary contest and an art program honoring the National Intangible Cultural Heritage of Salanganes Nest.
Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan emphasized: "Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Industry is not only a simple economic sector, but has become a national brand with great value, contributing to the socio-economic potential of the province. Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest products have affirmed their quality and reputation, becoming the pride of Khanh Hoa people and of the whole of Vietnam."
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee called on Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest One Member Limited Liability Company to continue to promote and build a strong brand with a high sense of responsibility; develop sustainably, promote scientific research, improve techniques, in order to build a worthy Khanh Hoa-Vietnam Salanganes Nest brand.
The art program with the theme “Honoring Heritage - Forever Pride” ended the ceremony. The performances combined traditional and modern art. The content showed the journey of formation, preservation and development of Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest heritage through generations.
The recognition of Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage is a great honor for the locality. This is also a motivation for the community to continue to preserve and promote the value of heritage in modern life.
The honoring ceremony is the opening activity of the Khanh Hoa Sea Culture and Tourism Festival 2025, aiming to honor the traditional cultural values of the profession of exploiting and processing bird's nests, associated with the sacred sea and islands of the Fatherland.
This is also an opportunity to pay tribute to the Ancestors, the Holy Mother and the predecessors who opened and developed the bird's nest profession, in order to pass on to future generations a valuable treasure of knowledge imbued with the traditional cultural identity of Khanh Hoa.
Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest One Member Limited Liability Company is managing more than 40 natural salangane islands. Each year, the unit harvests about 6 tons of raw bird nests. The company's two processing factories meet ISO and HACCP standards, allowing the production of more than 60 lines of high-end bird nest products.
