Vinh Phuc: Adjusting the schedule for the capacity assessment exam for admission to grade 6 of junior high school

Accordingly, the time to organize the capacity assessment test for secondary schools with the number of candidates registering for admission greater than the assigned quota in districts/cities in the province will be completed no later than June 21, 2025.

The reason for this adjustment, according to the Department of Education and Training, is to ensure convenience in recruiting students for grade 6 of junior high school in the context of implementing the arrangement and reorganization of administrative units in the locality. Because according to the Central Government's policy on the arrangement of administrative units, the expected time for the district level to stop operating according to the roadmap is July 1, 2025.

Thus, instead of setting a common test to assess the capacity of admission to grade 6 junior high school across the province to take place on the morning of June 21 as before, now the Department of Education and Training requests: based on the adjusted schedule, the People's Committees of districts and cities direct the Departments of Education and Training to study and adjust the Grade 6 Admission Plan in accordance with the actual situation in the locality; at the same time, notify the affiliatededucational institutions, parents, and students to know and implement.

This also means that each district/city in the province may have its own schedule for assessing 6th grade entrance exams.

Previously, on May 7, 2025, Vinh Yen City People's Committee issued Document No. 1447/UBND-GDĐT to the Department of Education and Training proposing to advance the schedule for assessing the capacity of students entering grade 6 of junior high school.

The document of the City People's Committee clearly stated that, implementing the direction of the Central and the province on the arrangement of the apparatus, from June 10, 2025 onwards, the city has a lot of work to direct. In order not to affect the common work of the city, as well as to implement the direction of the Department, "it is proposed that the Department of Education and Training allow Vinh Yen city to organize the assessment of the capacity of students entering grade 6 of junior high school in the period from June 5-10, 2025. The specific date will be arranged by Vinh Yen city, after completing the assessment at the primary level".

Mr. Trinh Van Mung, Head of the Quality Management Department, said that the Department of Education and Training has issued general instructions for the whole province according to the adjusted document. Based on that, the People's Committees of districts and cities will proactively organize implementation to suit the actual situation in the locality, to be completed no later than June 21, 2025 according to the Department's guidance document.
