In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, VNG contributed 560 billion VND to the state budget. Core business segments all recorded stable growth and made positive contributions to Vietnam's digital economy . Specifically, in the second quarter of 2025, the gaming segment recorded bookings of 1,926 billion VND, with 17% from the international market, actively promoting digital service export activities. Domestic platforms such as Zalo and Zalopay maintain the role of essential technology infrastructure for Vietnamese users, supporting public administration connections and promoting cashless payments nationwide.
In particular, with AI (artificial intelligence), a field that is creating profound impacts around the world , VNG is achieving positive results. VNG is currently one of the few technology enterprises in Southeast Asia to invest comprehensively in artificial intelligence in all three layers: Infrastructure - Platform - Application. In June 2024, the group launched the first large-scale AI Cloud infrastructure in the region in Bangkok (Thailand), successfully commercializing AI after only 6 months of implementation. At the foundation layer, through Zalo's engineering team, VNG has successfully developed the large language model KiLM from scratch, making Vietnam one of three Southeast Asian countries to own its own LLM, with capacity equivalent to GPT-4.
The group also demonstrated its ability to effectively integrate AI into products serving ordinary users on a large scale. About 20% of Zalo users have accessed features such as composing messages by voice, converting voice to text, creating AI avatars... The general Q&A assistant Kiki Info - operated through Zalo Official Account - attracted more than 1 million uses in less than 2 months. AI Cards, an innovative application, also recorded 15 million cards created and sent in the same period.
In May 2025, the group signed a cooperation agreement with Ho Chi Minh City National University, pledging to fund 25 billion VND in 3 years for R&D activities and to train at least 1,000 high-quality students. The group also operates an AI Research and Laboratory at its headquarters, providing GPUs for talented young research groups. At the end of June, Zalo joined the first AI Alliance in Vietnam - Au Lac, pledging to develop community-oriented AI technology and promote national digital transformation.
