The luxury Volvo XC70 2026 will be positioned in the D-segment SUV segment, between the 60 and 90 series. The vehicle is developed on the SMA Super Hybrid Architecture platform with dimensions of 4,815 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, 1,650 mm high, and a wheelbase of 2,895 mm. Volvo XC70 has a new design language with a closed grille similar to the EX90 model, "Thor's Hammer" daytime running lights placed above the main headlights.
The aerodynamic design is optimized thanks to the closed rims, hidden door handles, frameless doors and frameless rearview mirrors. The rear of the car still has the characteristic “Viking Axe” taillights, the wipers are cleverly hidden above the rear window. Powering the XC70 is a hybrid powertrain that combines a 1.5T gasoline engine (160 horsepower, 255 Nm of torque) with three electric motors: P1 (80 horsepower, generator/starter), P2 (143 horsepower, front-wheel drive) and P3 (209 horsepower, rear-wheel drive).
The all-new Volvo XC70's powertrain comes with a 3-speed DHT gearbox, allowing the vehicle to operate in seven different hybrid modes, flexibly adjusting the energy path according to demand. The system is more complex than traditional plug-in hybrids or extended-range vehicles (EREVs), but supports up to seven hybrid driving modes, automatically optimizing the power path according to the driver's intentions. The XC70 can run purely on electricity for more than 200 km, with a combined operating range of about 1,200 km, and consumes 5.85 liters of fuel per 100 km (WLTC cycle) when the battery is depleted. The car has an expected selling price of about 360,000 yuan (about 1.31 billion VND).
The XC70 luxury SUV is produced at Volvo's factory in Taizhou (China). This model will be available for pre-order at the Chengdu Auto Show on August 27 and is expected to be delivered to Chinese customers by the end of this year. Video : Introducing the new 2026 Volvo XC70 luxury SUV.
