Applying technology to identify 100 ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees

'Vietnam Anti-Counterfeiting Technology Joint Stock Company (ACTIV) has just signed a cooperation agreement with Nui Den Pharmaceutical Tea Joint Stock Company on providing TrueData solution - a solution for tracing the origin of products and goods using RFID electronic chip stamps, tagging 100 ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees that are 200-500 years old.

Accordingly, in just 2 days (October 27-28), 10 200-year-old Shan Tuyet tea trees, 50 300-year-old Shan Tuyet tea trees, 25 400-year-old Shan Tuyet tea trees, 15 500-year-old Shan Tuyet tea trees were tagged as ancient trees in the Den Mountain area of Dan Khao village, Thuong Son commune, Vi Xuyen, Ha Giang (old), now Dan Khao village, Thuong Son commune, Tuyen Quang province.

With the TrueData solution integrating 3 core technologies RFID, AI and Blockchain, the project implementation units have brought about a breakthrough in traceability, affirming their commitment to accompany the digital transformation process of Vietnamese agriculture .

The project to identify 100 ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees and trace the origin of tea products aims to preserve the precious genetic resources of the Northwest tea region, while laying the foundation for digital transformation for the Vietnamese tea industry. Attaching a “digital passport” to each tea tree helps ensure transparency, protect the rights of producers and enhance brand value, opening up opportunities to conquer high-standard markets such as Japan, the European Union (EU) and the United States.

The project promises to become a typical model in applying high technology to preserve and develop indigenous resources, creating a sustainable value chain for ancient Shan Tuyet tea - the pride of the Northwest mountains and forests, contributing to spreading cultural values and aiming at the goal of "Digitizing heritage - Enhancing the value of Vietnamese agricultural products".

The ancient Shan Tuyet tea area is over 1,000 hectares, located at an altitude of 800-2,000m covered in fog all year round, with a harsh climate with severe cold and sometimes ice and snow. The hundred-year-old tea trees still grow green and produce quintessential young buds - a precious source of raw materials for the high-class Shan Tuyet tea line with the bold flavor of the Northwest mountains and forests. With a foundation of more than 20 years of research and preservation of Vietnamese tea cultural values, this brand has left a deep impression in the hearts of tea lovers and is highly appreciated by experts for its quality.

Selected from ancient Shan Tuyet tea buds on the high mountain peaks of the Northwest, the tea leaves are hand-picked from ancient tea trees hundreds of years old, going through a processing process that combines traditional quintessence and modern technology, from meticulous manual operations such as withering and gently crumpling to shape the leaves, to advanced temperature and humidity control steps during fermentation and drying, to fully preserve the essence in each tea bud.
