Case of 3,800 contract teachers under Decree 111: Agree to sign 12-month contract

The Standing Committee of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee has agreed on the policy of signing contracts for a term of 12 months instead of 9 months for contract teachers according to Decree 111 of the Government.

On June 5, information from the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee said that the Standing Committee of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee has just concluded the case of recruiting contract teachers according to Decree 111/2022/ND-CP dated December 30, 2022 (regulations on contracts for some types of jobs in administrative agencies and public service units) for the 2025-2026 school year in Thanh Hoa province.

This is an issue that more than 3,800 teachers in Thanh Hoa province have been particularly concerned about recently as they are worried about whether they can continue to sign contracts and for how long after the 2024-2025 school year ends (the incident was reported by Thanh Nien Newspaper).

According to the conclusion of the meeting on June 2, the Standing Committee of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee agreed on the policy of signing labor contracts to work as teachers according to Decree 111 for the 2025-2026 school year, which is 3,840 people. Of which, 960 are in preschool; 1,152 are in primary school; 1,422 are in secondary school; and 306 are in high school.

In particular, the Standing Committee of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee agreed on the contract period with teachers from June 2025 to the end of May 2026. Thus, the contract period for teachers according to Decree 111 in Thanh Hoa province will be 12 months (a whole year) and not according to the school year (9 months).

The Standing Committee of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee has assigned the Standing Committee of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee to lead the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee to complete procedures and documents according to regulations to submit to the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Council for consideration and decision according to its authority.

Previously, as Thanh Nien reported, thousands of contract teachers under Decree 111 were owed many months of salary (now paid) and had their contract period shortened from 12 months (1 year) to 9 months, causing teachers to be confused and worried because during the time without a contract, they would not know what to do to earn money to cover their living expenses.
