On June 24, the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training sent a dispatch to Victory Primary, Secondary and High School (Victory School) regarding the cancellation of a student's admission results to grade 10 of high school.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak , Victory School is a private, autonomous school, responsible for mobilizing, using, and managing resources to achieve educational goals. The school performs its duties and powers according to the regulations of primary, secondary, high schools, and multi-level general schools.

"In reality, when problems arise, schools need to have a reasonable, appropriate, and educational solution to meet students' learning needs within the school's authority and capacity, while still ensuring compliance with state and industry regulations," the document of the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training clearly stated.

Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training requests that in cases where students register to take the school's 10th grade capacity assessment test and have been admitted but are late in paying tuition, Victory School considers the wishes of the student and their family, and creates conditions for the student to complete the admission procedures to ensure the rights of the learner.

Mr. Nguyen Hoa Nam, Principal of Victory School, said that the board of directors had just held a meeting with the school owner and investors and agreed to follow the admission notice that the school had issued.

Specifically, keeping the stance that for students who do not enroll on time in the announcement, if the school lacks the quota, the scores will be taken from top to bottom.

"We cannot give in to one student and then ignore the other. That will lead to complaints and unfairness in admissions," Mr. Nam asserted.

Mr. Nam added that the school agreed that students with similar wishes as L. would be accepted back after they finish 10th grade elsewhere and transfer back later. However, L.'s family has now withdrawn their application from the school.

As Dan Tri reported, Mr. T. (residing in Thuong Tin district, Hanoi city) complained about his daughter studying from grade 2 to grade 9 at Victory School and participating in the school's 10th grade entrance exam, passing the first round of admission, but because he paid the tuition fee 2 days late, the school canceled her admission results.

Mr. T. petitioned the school but received a response that the results were canceled according to regulations.

Mr. T's family was surprised when they sent their daughter to school for the past 8 years but the school did not create favorable conditions for their child and the family was worried about the psychological impact on their 15-year-old daughter.

The incident has caused two streams of controversy. One side believes that the school is too rigid and inhumane in recruiting students who have studied at the school for 8 years; the other side believes that the school is correct in following the announcement to ensure fairness for all candidates.
