On August 28, speaking with Dan Tri reporter, a leader of the Departmentof Education and Training (GD&DT) of Buon Ma Thuot city (Dak Lak) said that the unit has decided to recognize the graduation of junior high school for student D.XH (17 years old), a former student of Lac Long Quan junior high school.
"We held many meetings with many relevant units and then came to an agreement to recognize H's graduation," said the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Buon Ma Thuot city.

Regarding the violations of the Principal of Lac Long Quan Secondary School in the case of student H. studying at this school until grade 9 but only having a grade 6 report card causing negative public opinion, the Principal was disciplined by the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City.
As for H.'s family, after their child was recognized as a junior high school graduate, they applied to study at a vocational college in Dak Lak province.
Previously, in June 2023, when attending the gratitude ceremony of 9th grade students at Lac Long Quan Secondary School, H.'s parents were upset when their son's name was not on the school list and were told that he only had the report card of 6th grade.
H. has autism so he is a slow learner. After finishing 6th grade, he was held back a grade. At this time, his parents discussed with the leaders of Lac Long Quan Secondary School and were allowed to continue to 7th grade.
Since then, the parents have paid all the tuition fees for the student. The student’s father was even elected as the President of the school’s Parents’ Association for four years.
However, when they found out that their child had only a 6th grade report card after finishing 9th grade and was not considered for graduation, H.'s family filed a complaint with the relevant authorities.
Regarding the above incident, the Ministry of Education and Training has issued a document instructing the Dak Lak education sector to handle it according to regulations.
The authorities are investigating the incident to determine the responsibility of both the family and the school.
Specifically, H.'s family did not complete the procedure to confirm that the student was disabled in time to complete the application to the school, in order to comply with the regulations on inclusive education for students with disabilities, causing disadvantages for their child.
In addition, when the child was held back a grade, the family submitted a request for the child to be promoted to a higher grade. This is against the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. In addition, when the family learned that the child did not have final semester and yearly academic results, they did not promptly report it to the school and relevant authorities.
For Lac Long Quan Secondary School, allowing students with poor academic performance who stay in grade 6 to move up to grade 7 is against the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. The responsibility lies with the Principal of Lac Long Quan Secondary School.
