Prince William, King Charles' eldest son and heir to the throne, has been named the Prince of Wales, while the children of his second son, Harry, were officially named princes and princesses earlier this week.
Mr Edward's new title comes after he took on some of his father's roles, including at the Duke of Edinburgh's Award charity which encourages young people to take on challenges.
“The new Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are proud to continue Prince Philip's legacy of promoting opportunities for young people to achieve their full potential in all circumstances,” Buckingham Palace said.
Mr Philip held the title of Duke of Edinburgh from his marriage to the then-Princess Elizabeth in 1947 until his death in 2021.
