Teachers and students of Tran Hung Dao Secondary School visit the photo exhibition "A Country Full of Joy".
In the last days of April, Tran Hung Dao Secondary School was filled with flags and flowers, with many meaningful activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). Upon entering the school, visitors were impressed by the large national flag, made by teachers and students of the school with recycled materials, with the meaning of protecting the environment.
In another space, the school organized a photo exhibition with the theme “A Country Full of Joy”. Through images recording historical events of our country and Can Tho, the exhibition told a heroic and proud historical story. Through that, students understood more about the August Revolution, the uprising to seize power in Can Tho in 1945; or about the Great Victory of Spring 1975, images of the liberation of Can Tho half a century ago... The highlight of the exhibition space was the model of a tank, simulating the tank that crashed through the gate of the Independence Palace at noon on April 30, 1975. The sophistication and meticulousness in every detail of the model showed the dedication and heart of the people who made it.
Visiting the exhibition, Nguyen Tran Truc Nhi, a 9th grader, shared: “The photo exhibition helps me understand more about the history of the country and the locality through documentary images”. Meanwhile, Pham Truong Giang, a 9th grader, confided: “I am very proud of my nation when I see these images. As a member of the Youth Union, I will strive to study and practice to be worthy of that tradition”.
In the photo exhibition space “A Country Full of Joy”, we also encountered many products made by the students themselves such as diaries following Uncle Ho’s words, report designs as the results of trips to visit, experience, and return to the source. Specifically, after visits to the Can Tho Grand Prison, Plum Garden Base or Cai Rang Floating Market, Can Tho City Museum, Military Zone 9 Museum; or after experiencing craft villages, local specialties... the students reported the results with a design product with very beautiful and modern content and images. Through each page, the students expressed the beauty and meaning of the places they visited, drawing lessons and their own feelings.
Ms. Nguyen Le Thu Thuan, Principal of Tran Hung Dao Secondary School, said: Every school year, the school builds a plan for revolutionary ideal education for students, with topics and themes for each month, each event of the country and locality. The highlight is that the school regularly organizes tours and practical experiences for students, increasing interaction and emotions. For example, in the recent "History Lesson at the Museum" activity, students learned about Oc Eo culture, about national treasures in Can Tho and drew or molded a national treasure, Nhon Thanh ceramic vase. This "learning, playing, and exploring" activity was very well supported by the students. Or the "A day as a soldier" activity at the Ninh Kieu District Military Command, which was also highly effective. The school also invited reporters to present the topic of Ninh Kieu District Party Committee History; Exchange, listen to veterans tell traditional stories... These activities not only attract students but also all party members and teachers of the school.
Ms. Nguyen Le Thu Thuan added: The school also regularly integrates traditional education for students through cultural activities such as storytelling, art competitions... with performances praising the homeland and country, recreating the heroic history of our ancestors. Thai Nguyen Phuong Vy, a 6th grade student, is an "artist" of the school, shared: "The activities help me satisfy my passion for art, feel happy and very proud when I can sing about my homeland and country".
Ms. Nguyen Le Thu Thuan emphasized: In addition to developing capacity, the 2018 General Education Program also focuses on training students' qualities, ethics, and skills. Therefore, through activities, the school hopes to instill in each student patriotism, national pride, responsibility for themselves, their families, and society, and to respect and preserve the cultural identity of the nation and locality.
