Ha Nha flood center proactively responds to floods

ĐNO- As of 3:00 p.m. on October 27, due to heavy rain, the water level of Vu Gia River rose, many roads and residential areas in Ha Nha commune were deeply flooded. Local authorities have proactively deployed response measures to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.

In Ha Nha commune, heavy rain continues, causing the water level of Vu Gia river flowing through the commune to exceed alert level 3. Many inter-village roads and DT609 are flooded from 0.5 to more than 1 meter deep.

In Vinh Phuoc village, the family of Ms. Le Thi Tuy (65 years old) was severely affected when the water rose about half a meter above the floor of the house, disrupting daily life. However, thanks to timely support from the authorities and neighbors, all the belongings and assets in the house were moved to a safe place, avoiding damage caused by the flood.

Ms. Le Thi Tuy confided: “My family consists of only an elderly couple, and we asked the neighbors and young people in the village to help us move our belongings upstairs. Although the floodwaters rose quickly, the people in this area are used to dealing with floods, so they proactively cleaned up from yesterday afternoon and evening.”

The People's Committee of Ha Nha commune mobilized militia and commune police to block key points, and deployed shock troops to each village to mobilize people, especially the elderly and single households, to move to safety.

The locality has evacuated 39 households with 59 people to solid houses in the area. The whole commune has 143 flooded houses.

Without waiting for the flood to recede, Ha Nha commune officials stayed close to the area, went down to each residential area to grasp the situation, visit and encourage the people. Mr. Mai Thanh Sang, Chairman of Ha Nha Commune People's Committee, said: "In the face of the complicated developments of the flood, the Ha Nha Commune Civil Defense Command has activated the 24/24 duty mode; mobilized all forces to participate in propaganda, mobilize the people, and at the same time deploy measures to support people in preventing natural disasters."

“We have prepared scenarios to respond to complex weather developments in the coming days; at the same time, we have also prepared scenarios for floodwaters to peak and recede in the near future, to promptly carry out cleaning, especially at schools in the area, as well as disease prevention after the flood,” Mr. Sang added.
