Phong Hai commune strengthens management of stone mining in the area

Phong Hai Commune currently has many mineral mining enterprises operating. These quarries contribute positively to the local economic development, create jobs for people, and contribute to the commune budget. However, the mining process also generates dust, noise, and vibration, affecting the daily life of some households in the neighboring area.

The quarry in Phong Hai commune has implemented many solutions to reduce the impact on the lives of people in neighboring areas.

Mr. Vu Trung Dung - Chairman of Phong Hai Commune People's Committee, said: We regularly inspect and urge businesses to strictly comply with the regulations in the mining license; at the same time, we require good implementation of measures to reduce dust, reduce noise and ensure blasting safety.

In recent times, the commune has coordinated with provincial agencies, departments and branches to organize periodic inspections at mining sites. In particular, during the dry season, the authorities require units to increase the frequency of watering, cover and limit the transportation of materials during peak hours to reduce dust emissions. Enterprises are also encouraged to invest in modern, environmentally friendly equipment.

Phong Hai Commune Party Committee and Government held a dialogue with the people to find solutions to limit the impact of mineral exploitation in the area.

According to Mr. Tran Manh Huy - Director of Ban Cam Mineral Company Limited, we have put into use specialized watering trucks, planted trees around the mine area, and reduced the amount of explosives in each blast to limit vibrations. The company also regularly coordinates with the commune and people in recording and handling feedback.

Along with measures from the government and businesses, local people also want mining activities to be more strictly managed, ensuring safety and a clean living environment. Ms. Luc Thi Lien, Ban Cam village, expressed: We hope mining companies pay more attention to dust and noise issues, because they directly affect the daily lives of local people.

Currently, Phong Hai commune authorities are stepping up propaganda and raising awareness of mining units in complying with environmental and labor safety regulations; at the same time, promoting the supervisory role of the people. People's legitimate feedback and recommendations are recorded and handled promptly.

The quarry has restricted blasting to avoid vibration.

It can be seen that the synchronous coordination between the government, businesses and people is the key factor to help harmoniously resolve the issue between economic development and environmental protection. When each side joins hands towards the common goal of sustainable development, the negative impacts from mineral exploitation activities will gradually be controlled, bringing a peaceful life and a clean environment to the people of Phong Hai commune.
