A horrific shooting took place at around 8:30 a.m. on April 10 local time in the East Main Street area of Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
According to initial information, a gunman fired multiple shots into a crowd inside a bank building in a downtown area of Louisville.
Louisville police responded to the scene and neutralized the gunman. At least five people were killed at the scene, Louisville authorities said. Six others are currently being treated at the University of Louisville Hospital.
The condition of the injured has not yet been released. However, according to local police, some people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Louisville Police have now cordoned off the scene. An investigation into the incident is underway.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said he would travel to the scene of the shooting to oversee the investigation. Governor Beshear asked Kentuckians to pray for the families of the victims.
At the White House, US President Joe Biden was informed about the incident.
