Tru Van Tho Commune, Bau Bang District: Developing agricultural economic models

Báo Bình DươngBáo Bình Dương21/04/2023

In order to promote the strength of land, Tru Van Tho commune, Bau Bang district has focused on shifting the structure of crops and livestock, encouraging people to choose suitable agricultural models that bring high economic value.

Visiting the economic model of Mr. Tran Van Tinh in group 1, hamlet 4, we were quite impressed by the spacious space, combining both living and economic development. In the farm's premises is a durian garden planted in straight rows to create a green, airy space, part of the area is used to build a duck farm.

Mr. Tran Van Tinh's closed cold duck farm model helps protect the environment and brings high economic efficiency.

Mr. Tinh said that his family used to raise chickens in open farms, but in 2015, they switched to a closed cold duck farming process with a scale of more than 11,000 ducks, a large farm of 1,000m2 and a small farm of 600m2. In addition to investing in automatic feeding and drinking systems, his family invested in building a biogas tank to treat waste, so that the ducks have fewer diseases and grow well. "Unlike raising chickens, raising cold ducks can be sold after only 45 days, each batch of about 10,000 ducks. The profit depends on the market price, at the best price, the family has a profit of about more than 1 billion VND/year," Mr. Tinh said.

According to Mr. Tinh, when he was initially determined to develop the farm economy, in addition to the capital his family had saved, he boldly borrowed money from the bank to invest. At the same time, he learned about high-tech livestock farming techniques, regularly discussed and consulted with agricultural officials about livestock farming experiences and ways to prevent some common diseases. He also carefully selected food sources from reputable companies. The application of high technology in production helps to improve economic efficiency while protecting the environment. Up to now, his family has paid off all loans, and the family economy is stable.

Regarding the economic model of cultivation, we must mention the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai, group 3, hamlet 4. Before 2014, her family was a poor household, both husband and wife had to work for hire everywhere. With their will and determination to overcome difficulties, in 2014, her family saved up to buy a piece of land to grow grapefruit. However, after 2 harvests, due to lack of experience and poor techniques, the garden was exhausted and the trees gradually died. Ms. Hai decided to buy rambutan seedlings to intercrop in a garden of 4,000,000 m2. The rambutan trees were suitable for the soil, and with more experience thanks to diligently learning from previous growers, they grew very well. Ms. Ha gradually cut down the ineffective grapefruit trees to complete the rambutan garden with more than 70 trees.

Currently, each harvest of Ms. Ha's garden reaches more than 2 tons, with the price at the beginning of the season being 35,000-40,000 VND/kg, and during the main season the price is about 20,000-25,000 VND/kg. Ms. Ha said: "In the locality, most people grow durian. My family decided to grow rambutan because the investment cost is low, it is easier to care for, and the harvest cycle is longer. In addition, taking advantage of the garden land to grow grass, the family also raises 6 cows, selling 4 cows each year, earning about 80 million VND. Thanks to that, the family's economy has improved, and is no longer as difficult as before."

Assessing the effectiveness of developing agricultural economic models in the commune, Mr. Tran Quang Sy, Chairman of the Commune Farmers' Association, said: "The commune has an agricultural - service - small-scale industrial economic structure; in which the cultivation and livestock sectors account for a large proportion. Currently, the commune has 42 livestock farms, 1 transportation cooperative, 1 safe vegetable cooperative, 1 guava and Taiwanese pear growing cooperative, 2 cattle raising cooperatives and fruit growing cooperatives with varieties such as durian, rambutan...".

According to Mr. Tran Quang Sy, to ensure livestock development associated with environmental protection, the commune encourages livestock households to build VAC models and commit to having biogas tanks. The locality also coordinates with consulting units to provide guidance on biosafety livestock farming and ensure environmental hygiene for the people.

Mr. Tran Xuan Tra, Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Tho commune, said: "With the goal of increasing people's income, increasing per capita income every year, the commune actively and synchronously implements many solutions to promote economic development in the area. In particular, focusing on restructuring the agricultural sector, creating favorable conditions for businesses and households to invest and replicate effective livestock and crop farming economic models."

In 2022, the socio-economic situation of Tru Van Tho commune will develop stably, the number of well-off and rich households will increase, the number of poor households will decrease to 0.61% (14/2,101 households). In the coming time, the commune will strive to implement solutions, and at the same time propose that the authorities have a mechanism to support the consumption of agricultural products so that people can boldly invest in production, improve the efficiency of economic models, especially the fruit tree growing model; build product chains, build local products according to the program of each commune having a typical product.
