The Asian Women's Futsal Championship has concluded. Japan won the championship, while Thailand finished as runners-up. The remaining Asian spot for the Women's Futsal World Cup is occupied by third-placed Iran.

Thus, up to this point, FIFA has determined 16 representatives to attend the first-ever Women's Futsal World Cup. Of which, Southeast Asia has 2 representatives, Thailand and the host Philippines. They will join Japan and Iran to represent Asia.
Among the two representatives of Southeast Asia, Thailand has the ability to compete for the World Cup championship. Although only ranked second in the Asian women's futsal tournament, the "War Elephants" are a top team in the world . They are ranked 5th in the FIFA rankings (the highest in Asia). Meanwhile, the Philippines is not very strong. They lost all three matches in the group stage of the Asian women's futsal tournament against Iran (0-1), Vietnam (0-3) and Hong Kong (China) (3-7).
In addition, FIFA also identified teams from other continents as Morocco, Tanzania (Africa); Canada, Panama (CONCACAF); Argentina, Brazil, Colombia (South America); New Zealand (Oceania); Italy, Portugal, Spain and Poland (Europe).

The 16 teams will be divided into four groups to compete in a round-robin format. The top two teams in each group will advance to the quarterfinals. The tournament will take place in the Philippines from November 21 to December 7.
The top four teams in the FIFA rankings are also futsal powerhouses: Brazil (number 1), Spain (number 2), Portugal (number 3) and Argentina (number 4). Thailand is the highest ranked team right after this group.
