Records from green values

From rustic ingredients such as Dong Thap lotus, organic vegetables from the West, brown rice and Vietnamese beans, the chefs of the Ho Chi Minh City Culinary Association have created more than 200 rich vegetarian dishes, both sophisticated in flavor and rich in regional identity.

Mr. Duong Thanh Dao, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City Culinary Association said: Lotus is a plant symbolizing the pure beauty and enduring vitality of Vietnamese people.

Creating 200 vegetarian dishes from lotus is not only a challenge of skills, but also a journey to explore the depth of culture and national culinary identity. We hope that through the record of the number of vegetarian dishes made from lotus, the community will see that vegetarian cuisine is not monotonous.

Mena Gourmet Supermarket has contributed an indispensable part to this success by providing high quality, fresh and diverse ingredients to artisans and chefs of the Ho Chi Minh City Culinary Association.

Each dish is a green-clean-healthy message, calling on the community to eat vegetarian for health, for the environment, and for a compassionate heart. This is not only a recognized record, but also a symbol of the unlimited creativity of the Vietnamese people in the journey to spread vegetarian culinary culture to the world .

At the event, Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Ngoc, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Records Institute, General Secretary of the Vietnam Records Council, announced the appraisal results and awarded the Vietnam Record Certificate to the Ho Chi Minh City Culinary Association and Mena Gourmet supermarket with the content of 200 vegetarian dishes from lotus. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Ngoc, this is one of the records with profound cultural value, demonstrating the efforts to promote green lifestyle of Ho Chi Minh City.

The event of establishing the Vietnam Record is the biggest highlight in the series of activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Vegetarian Food Festival 2025, a festival honoring Vietnamese culinary culture, aiming for a green, healthy and happy lifestyle.

"Green Festival" meeting point

The Vegetarian Food Festival 2025 is becoming a unique "Green Festival meeting place", a cultural-tourism-culinary and community event with the largest number of visitors in Ho Chi Minh City at the end of 2025. This shows that the attraction of "vegetarian cuisine, green cuisine, sustainable living" to the city's residents, tourists and young people is huge.

Not only crowded, the quality of visitors' experience is also well-recognized with a variety of dishes, beautiful displays, green and clean space, attractive cultural activities, conference areas, and professional playgrounds.

One of the highlights of the festival is the International Vegetarian Cuisine Conference - Raising awareness of green cuisine. This year's festival took an important step forward when organizing the International Vegetarian Conference 2025 with the participation of more than 20 speakers from 15 countries with developed vegetarian cuisine (India, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Brazil, Korea...) organized by the World Vegetarian Alliance.

At the workshop, experts shared about the trend of vegetarian cuisine and Green Living in the world, vegetarian cuisine and sustainable development, and the role of Vietnam in the plant-based food supply chain.

This is an important piece that helps the festival not only be a “delicious vegetarian food” but also an intellectual event, contributing to making Ho Chi Minh City a destination for green cuisine in the world.

In addition, the vegetarian buffet with 150 dishes from 3 regions has become the most attractive activity for locals and tourists. The buffet area is neatly and eye-catchingly decorated, bringing diners into the surprise of the rich world of vegetarian dishes and creating an experience of "pleasing the eyes - satisfying the stomach - satisfying the emotions of deliciousness from the wholesome taste from the heart" for diners.

Ms. Bui Thi Tam, Xom Chieu ward, shared: “This is the first time I have come to the Vegetarian Food Festival. I was surprised to know that Vietnamese vegetarian dishes are so diverse, rich and beautifully displayed.”

The 2025 Vegetarian Food Festival is an important step in shaping the trend of “Green Food-Green Supper City-Green Future” in Ho Chi Minh City. It is not only a cultural event, but also a social movement: “Each dish is a message - Each participant is a messenger spreading green lifestyle” and “Eat vegetarian for health - Live green for the earth”.

This year's festival is also a "harmony" of people, nature, and cuisine, a place where the quintessence of Vietnamese and international vegetarian cuisine converges, all aiming at the goal of developing Ho Chi Minh City into a green super city - a sustainable culinary city.
