On June 12, the inspection team chaired by the People's Committee of Quy Nhon City worked with the owner of Oc Met restaurant, located at 316 Xuan Dieu, Tran Phu Ward, regarding information from customers reporting that this restaurant sold spoiled snails.

On the same morning, Facebook spread information calling for a boycott of the Oc Met restaurant at the above address because it sold spoiled snails. Meanwhile, the staff's attitude was lacking, and they were not receptive to customers' feedback.

In addition, some websites also shared that the tram driver "tricked" a group of tourists into going to Oc Met restaurant to "eat" commission.

According to information, the group of 8 people ordered 5 dishes including: Grilled snails, sea urchins, oysters, grilled clams with scallion oil, and steamed lemongrass snails. However, all the dishes ordered, except for the snails, were spoiled.

“The owner put a lot of onion fat to cover up the rancid taste, but the onion was also bad onion. The whole group left it all behind. Anyone who accidentally put it in their mouth had to spit it out because it was so disgusting,” information shared on social media.

Working with the authorities, Mr. Nong Van Dat, owner of Oc Met restaurant, said that at around 11 p.m. on June 11, a group of 8 customers took an electric car to the snail restaurant.

“The guest arrived late at night, sat for about 15 minutes, then asked to move the table to the beach to sit. After sitting for about an hour, the guest said the food was spoiled and he would not eat it. The guest ate 2 plates, 2 plates were kept intact. I checked but did not find anything spoiled and the guest was very upset,” said Mr. Dat.

The restaurant owner also said that it was possible that due to the large quantity of snails, some of them had an odor when making the dish. The restaurant owner admitted the mistake and promised to fix it.

Mr. Phan Tuan Hoang, Head of the Department of Culture, Science and Information of Quy Nhon City, said that this is not the first time that Oc Met restaurant has been complained by customers about the quality of its products and prices. Mr. Hoang asked the restaurant owner to be serious about food preparation, service style, and put customers first.

“The restaurant owner must review the way he does business, the goods must be of good quality, the processing must follow the correct procedures, food hygiene and safety must be ensured, and prices must be listed. Business must be honest and reputable so as not to affect the image of Quy Nhon tourism ,” said Mr. Hoang.

Regarding food safety, Mr. Hoang requested the health department to coordinate with Tran Phu ward to conduct surprise inspections and handle any violations. In particular, check the kitchen system and if it is not up to standard, the restaurant will be immediately shut down.

Regarding the issue of paying commissions for electric cars to take customers to the restaurant, Mr. Hoang asked the Tran Phu Ward Police to investigate not only the Oc Met restaurant but also other restaurants to find a way to handle it.

As Dan Tri reported, in 2023, Oc Met restaurant was also accused by customers of "selling only rotten snails" and called for a boycott of the restaurant. After that, Quy Nhon city authorities also stepped in to verify. Through inspection, the authorities did not detect any violations at this snail restaurant. All types of snails have public prices and are sold at the right price.

However, the owner did not inform customers about the 6 large iced tea pots, totaling 80,000 VND. The authorities reminded and required the owner to commit to selling at the listed price, and to conduct business honestly and receptive to customer feedback.
