Building Da Nang into a center of innovative startups

On the morning of August 15, concluding the regular meeting of the Da Nang City Startup Network Coordination Council in 2024, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi acknowledged and highly appreciated the leading role of the Department of Science and Technology (KH&CN) in coordinating and implementing innovative startup activities in the city in the past time; the active cooperation of council members in proposing and implementing startup support policies, creating favorable conditions for the development of the city's innovative startup ecosystem.

The Department of Science and Technology studies and accepts the opinions of the members of the Coordination Council to complete and supplement the plan for the last 6 months of 2024, and the orientation for activities in 2025. In particular, successfully organize, ensure the scale and quality of the Innovation and Startup Festival - SURF 2024, create opportunities for startup projects to access capital and strategic partners; focus on finding opportunities for cooperation, investment, learning from experiences of developing startup ecosystems and inviting partners and experts to participate in the city's innovation and startup activities. Closely coordinate with international partners, especially Korea, Singapore, Japan and Canada to improve the quality and effectiveness of cooperation programs.

Regarding the 2025 operational orientation, the leaders of the City People's Committee requested the Department of Science and Technology to continue to coordinate with the members of the Coordination Council to pay close attention, advise closely, accurately, and specifically on advisory policies to submit to the City People's Council for approval. In particular, focusing on building Da Nang into a leading innovation and startup center in the region, with the goal of attracting investment and participation from technology enterprises and international investment funds.

Diversify the development of start-up fields from technology, tourism, services to high-tech agriculture to create new values ​​and enhance Da Nang's competitiveness in the international market; build strategic partnerships with start-up centers and international organizations, attract resources and provide professional support for innovative start-up activities.

According to the report of the Department of Science and Technology, in the first 6 months of 2024, the department coordinated with many agencies and member units of the council to organize events to promote innovative startups in the city, expand international cooperation, attract investment and support startups.

Specifically, organizing the program "Da Nang International Venture and Angel Forum - DAVAS 2024"; connecting about innovative startups in Shenzhen, China; coordinating with the Union of Friendship Organizations of Da Nang City, Catalyste+ Organization (Canada) and related units to organize the international conference "Women and innovative startups"...

In the last 6 months of 2024, the Department will preside over and coordinate the organization of the Danang City Innovation and Startup Festival - SURF 2024 on August 29 and 30; connect venture capitalists, startup experts, large-scale technology enterprises, investors in innovative startup infrastructure, and innovative enterprises in Australia in mid-September 2024; continue to coordinate the implementation of connection activities and develop the Danang city startup ecosystem with Quest Ventures Investment Fund, partners from Korea, Singapore, Japan, Canada, etc.
