Building a pilot model for high-quality and low-emission rice production at Hong Phat Cooperative

On May 23, the provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection organized a visit to the pilot model of high-quality and low-emission rice production - the solution of sowing in rows and burying fertilizer at Hong Phat Cooperative (Tuong Thang B hamlet, Vinh Thanh commune, Phuoc Long district).

Implementing the Project "Sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta region by 2030" in Bac Lieu province, in the summer-autumn crop of 2025, the provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection and Phuoc Long district selected Hong Phat Cooperative to build a pilot model of high-quality and low-emission rice production with 50 hectares of more than 20 households who are members of the Cooperative. The model is supported by the State with 50% of input materials (rice seeds, fertilizers, pesticides), the rest is contributed by the members of the Cooperative. The functional sector organizes training and guidance on the application of technical processes for high-quality, low-emission rice production; using high-quality rice varieties for sowing in rows at the recommended density (70kg/ha), reducing inorganic fertilizers; reducing costs of spraying pesticides; watering economically according to the "alternating wet and dry" process; Measure greenhouse gas emissions according to the measurement and verification reporting (MRV) process of the Institute of Agricultural Environment; develop SPOT maps for the pilot model...
