Thanh Hoa Lung Hospital doctors advise patients on the harmful effects of smoking.
Immediately after launching the movement, the hospital developed a specific plan and established a "Smoke-free Hospital" Steering Committee. All medical staff signed a commitment not to smoke in the hospital, and actively promoted and reminded patients and their families to do the same. A system of billboards, posters, and "No Smoking" signs were installed in all departments, rooms, corridors, work areas, and public areas, helping to raise awareness of compliance among everyone when coming for examination and treatment.
According to Doctor CK1 Pham Quang Hai, Head of Internal Medicine Department 1, since the hospital implemented the "smoke-free" model, the awareness of staff and patients has changed significantly: Previously, there were still occasional people secretly smoking in the hallway or waiting area. Now that situation is almost gone. The hospital air is cleaner and more pleasant, everyone feels comfortable and respects the general regulations.
In addition to propaganda work, Thanh Hoa Lung Hospital also strengthens supervision and reminds violators. For patients or family members who smoke in the campus, security forces and medical staff will directly guide and explain so that everyone understands and voluntarily complies. Thanks to the synchronous efforts, up to now, 100% of the hospital's medical staff do not smoke during working hours and in the hospital campus; 90% of patients and family members are propagandized and committed to "say no to cigarettes". The working environment and medical examination and treatment at the hospital are increasingly civilized, friendly and safe.

After receiving advice and propaganda, patient Le Xuan Bao quit smoking and his health improved.
Patient Le Xuan Bao, 66 years old, Hac Thanh ward shared: "I have smoked for more than 40 years and used to think that quitting smoking was very difficult. However, after getting sick and having to be hospitalized for treatment and being advised by the doctor to quit smoking to improve respiratory function, I was determined to quit smoking, and now my health has improved."
As a hospital specializing in lung disease treatment, the number of patients treated at the hospital is increasing day by day, most of them are related to diseases caused by tobacco use, with diseases such as: Pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma... Therefore, building a smoke-free hospital is not only a movement, but also a practical action to protect public health at Thanh Hoa Lung Hospital. The hospital is continuing to maintain and expand the model, aiming at the goal of each medical staff being an active propagandist in the work of preventing and combating the harmful effects of tobacco, contributing to spreading the message of healthy living, saying no to tobacco to each medical staff, patients and the community.
