Building Dong Thap University as a center for training high-quality human resources

Speaking at the opening of the Congress, comrade Truong Tan Dat - Member of the Party Executive Committee of the Provincial People's Committee, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Council of Dong Thap University emphasized that the Congress focused on setting out goals, targets, tasks, and implementation solutions suitable to the situation of the Party Committee in order to promote the development process of the unit, striving to build a truly clean and strong Party Committee.

During the last term, the school's grassroots Party Committee was assigned authority at the grassroots level by the Provincial Party Standing Committee. This is a favorable condition to promote the role of the Party organization in leading and directing activities at the unit. Currently, the school has 18 associate professors, 97 PhDs, 265 masters; the employment rate of graduates is over 85%.

Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Bich Thuan said that delegates from the Dong Thap University Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term were selected to organize the model congress. She acknowledged and highly appreciated the Party Committee's preparations for the congress.

With a long tradition of 50 years of teacher training and 22 years of university training, in the 2020-2025 term, the school's Party Committee has led the team of party members, lecturers and staff to successfully complete the set targets and plans.

In the 2025-2030 term, the Party Committee of Dong Thap University resolved to continue to improve the leadership capacity and quality of activities of Party committees and affiliated Party organizations; improve the quality of education, strengthen international cooperation, promote scientific research associated with technology transfer, serve the community, and promote digital transformation in the school's fields of operation.

The Party Committee of the University is determined to realize the goal of building Dong Thap University into a center for training high-quality human resources, with prestige in the Mekong Delta region and the whole country; building clean and strong Party organizations, unions, agencies and units; building a team of Party members and civil servants who are steadfast in politics and ideology, have pure moral qualities, and have the working capacity to meet the requirements of the tasks.

The Congress voted and approved 18 main targets for the term, including some targets such as: admitting 450 party members; by the end of the term, opening at least 15 more university-level training majors, at least 10 master's-level training majors, and at least 5 doctoral-level training majors; annually, the rate of full-time students graduating on schedule reaches more than 75%; the rate of students graduating with jobs after 12 months reaches more than 80%; the rate of officials with doctoral degrees reaches at least 40% of the total number of teaching officials; having at least 1 more professor and 20 more associate professors.

The Congress elected the 19th Party Executive Committee consisting of 27 comrades. Comrade Truong Tan Dat was re-elected as Secretary of the Party Committee of Dong Thap University for the 2025-2030 term.
