(Dan Tri) - On the morning of November 9, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of primary and secondary boarding schools in land border communes took place simultaneously in 14 provinces and cities across the country.

The whole country turned to the border

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the groundbreaking ceremony at the main bridge: Yen Khuong Primary and Secondary Boarding School, Thanh Hoa . Deputy Prime Ministers and a number of Government members attended and directed the groundbreaking ceremony at the bridges.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that this is an event of profound political , social and humanitarian significance, demonstrating the spirit of "The whole country turns to the border, for the future of children of all ethnic groups".

The Prime Minister stated that our Party and State always consider education and training as the top national policy, the decisive factor ensuring success in making breakthroughs in human resource development to serve the cause of building and defending the socialist fatherland.

Resolution 71 of the Politburo on breakthrough in education and training development has clearly identified a shift in thinking from mainly equipping knowledge to comprehensively developing learners' capacity and qualities; with the view that school is the foundation, students are the center and teachers are the driving force.

The Politburo issued Conclusion 81, agreeing on the investment policy to build primary and secondary boarding schools in 248 land border communes.

The conclusion clearly identified the construction of boarding schools in land border areas as a key and important task to improve people's knowledge and human resource quality, create a source of cadres from local ethnic groups and remote areas to contribute to improving the material and spiritual life of people in border areas and to strengthen national defense and security.

In the immediate future, pilot investment and completion of construction or renovation of 100 schools in 2025, then continue to deploy on a large scale, completing the investment goal of building 248 schools in the next 2-3 years.

Expressing deep gratitude to teachers in border areas, the Prime Minister said that with all his heart and sense of responsibility, each teacher stationed in the border area carries a special mission.

For students, the Prime Minister hopes that they have ambitions, dreams, and contributions worthy of the attention of the Party, State, and the whole society.

With the spirit of doing what is said and the drastic participation of the entire political and social system, the entire people and localities, the Prime Minister believes that this program will achieve results, so that all children in border areas can be raised in a good educational environment, thereby contributing to the rapid and sustainable development of the country.

These schools contribute to the cultivation of knowledge, the lighting of dreams, and the realization of aspirations of children. They are symbols of the spirit of national unity, and the affection of the Party, State, and people for their compatriots and the Fatherland.

Investing in education is investing in the future.

From Lai Chau, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that the policy of building inter-level boarding schools in land border communes is the best and most complete response to the learning, training, living and comprehensive development of students...

With a spacious, synchronous, modern, sustainable and highly secure infrastructure system, the Party, State and Ministry of Education and Training expect this to be a breakthrough, a fundamental and comprehensive change for education in border areas; affirming the special attention and care of the Party and State for areas with many difficulties, narrowing the regional gap, ensuring fairness in access to education in Vietnam.

According to the head of the education sector, on July 18, the Politburo issued Conclusion No. 81-TB/TW on the policy of investing in building boarding schools in border communes. This is a major decision with profound political, social and humane significance, demonstrating the special attention of the Party and State to people in the border areas of the Fatherland, especially to teachers and students.

This is a key and urgent political task in socio-economic development and implementing the policy of great national unity, under the close direction of the Politburo and General Secretary To Lam.

Of the list of 100 schools starting construction this year, 28 have already started construction and are under urgent construction.

This is a large-scale project, built synchronously and modernly, meeting the needs of studying, living, boarding and semi-boarding for students and public housing for teachers; providing a comprehensive educational and training environment. The total investment is nearly 20,000 billion VND, from the central budget.

Along with investing in school construction, the Ministry of Education and Training is presiding over and coordinating with ministries and branches to develop documents regulating policies for students and teachers; preferential policies, recruitment, and promotion of teachers, etc., ensuring that schools are models in border communes.

This is the first time in history that 72 schools in the list of 100 primary and secondary boarding schools have been simultaneously started in 14 localities (the remaining 3 localities were proactively implemented due to the impact of storms and floods).

The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of boarding schools in the border communes is an opportunity to affirm the attention, companionship and determination of the Party and State in taking care of the education cause in difficult areas, while at the same time conveying the message of faith, knowledge and aspirations of generations of students in the border areas of the Fatherland.
