This is the second time after the APEC 2017 Summit Week that people have witnessed the image of specialized armored vehicles protecting Tan Son Nhat airport.
According to the Immigration Department ( Ministry of Public Security ), specialized vehicles such as armored vehicles are mobilized as part of the plan to apply level 1 enhanced aviation security control measures at airports, seaports... during the April 30 - May 1 holiday. The application period is from April 26 (Friday) to May 4 (Sunday).
In the decision, the Immigration Department requested the border police of Noi Bai, Da Nang , Tan Son Nhat, Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc international airports; the Immigration Department of the police of the remaining provinces/cities with airports to notify the content of the decision to aviation service providers and foreign airlines operating at the airports.
Vietnam Airports Corporation; Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation; Vietnamese airlines; Van Don International Airport are required to report on aviation security work between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. every day.
During the period of applying the level 1 enhanced aviation security control measures, the aviation security force will implement a number of additional measures such as: increasing the frequency of patrolling public areas, strengthening control of entry/exit to restricted areas, increasing screening of passengers...
When there is a high risk to aviation security, enhanced aviation security control measures are implemented at 3 levels, including: level 1, level 2 and level 3.
Level 1 is applied in cases of major political and social events of the country; with complicated political security and social order situations.
