The 2025 Italian Film Festival will take place from October 20-25 at the National Cinema Center (87 Lang Ha). The Embassy of Italy in Hanoi will coordinate with the Asian Film Festival in Rome.
The program brings 6 movies released in 2024, but with diverse settings from wartime to peacetime. The series of psychological and social films, diverse in age and topic: Existential issues such as love, freedom, art, post-war effects, women's voices under the weight of prejudice...
"Vermiglio" is set in 1944 during World War II, exploring the intimate secrets of a multi-generational family, about faith and the changing of traditional values.
The film won the Silver Lion and the Jury Prize at the 2024 Venice Film Festival and is the Italian cinema representative in the 2025 Oscar preliminary round.
"Gloiria!" is about the plight of 19th-century women and the rise of strong voices and unyielding free spirits. The film won and was nominated for national awards for young cinema, debut film and best costumes.
"Hey Joe" revolves around an American veteran who returns to Naples to make amends with the "illegitimate child" he had in the 1970s. The film received three nominations for cinematography and original screenplay, and won best sound at national awards such as the David di Donatello Award and the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists.

"La Vita Accanto" (A Life Apart) is about a girl with a facial defect, but through her passion for music, she turns pain into beauty, from 1980 to 2000. The work brought the director a Dedication Award at the Lorcarno International Film Festival (Switzerland), awards for main and supporting actors, at other prestigious domestic awards.
"Diciannove" (Nineteen) is about life, social relationships and generational gaps through the perspective of a young man about to turn twenty. The film premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and attended festivals in Toronto (Canada) and BFI London (UK).
"Nonostante" (Feeling Better) takes place from the perspective of a patient soul being treated in a hospital. Here he meets and experiences strange emotions with another patient soul, from which he has the opportunity to reflect on himself and his past wounds.
The film won the categories for best screenplay and best film, best director and best actor, the Orizzonti and Nastro d'Argeto awards.
Movie tickets priced at 30,000 VND are sold directly at the National Cinema Center from October 15.
