According to Traffic Police Team No. 6 of the Hanoi Traffic Police Department, the main cause of traffic congestion at the Trung Hoa and Khuat Duy Tien intersection is the high density of vehicles, coupled with a large number of trucks and buses entering from Thang Long Boulevard and then "cutting across" the intersection to access the elevated road. This situation has caused conflicts and traffic jams.

Even during off-peak hours, the Thang Long Boulevard leading to the intersection is always congested with vehicles, including many trucks and container vehicles. Photo taken on March 28th.

This has caused the Trung Hoa intersection, on Khuat Duy Tien road, in the central direction of the intersection - the ramp of the Ring Road 3 elevated highway - to be constantly congested, with vehicles having to queue for a long time waiting to get onto the elevated highway.

In light of the above situation, in order to expand the intersection and reduce conflicts, the Department of Construction has issued a document requesting the Traffic Works Maintenance Board (a unit under the Department of Construction) to remove the median strip to widen the Trung Hoa intersection.

On Khuat Duy Tien Street, the responsible units are implementing a plan to remove the median strip in the Khuat Duy Tien - Thanh Xuan direction, widening the road from 3 to 3.2 meters.

According to our reporter's observations, although the median strip on Khuat Duy Tien Street has been narrowed several times to widen the road, it remains 7-10 meters wide, ensuring sufficient space for further widening in the current phase.

After the planned removal of the median strip, the Trung Hoa intersection and Khuat Duy Tien road, heading towards Thang Long Boulevard and the elevated Ring Road 3, will be widened by an additional 3 to 3.2 meters (adding one more lane); this will help vehicles flow more quickly through the Trung Hoa and Khuat Duy Tien intersection.
