In Asia alone, the Vietnamese team ranked 16th, up one place from last month, and continued to maintain the No. 1 position in Southeast Asia, 19 places higher than the team ranked next, Thailand (down three places, ranked 114th in the world).
Meanwhile, with two wins against Hong Kong (China) and Turkmenistan, the Malaysian team rose seven places to 138th in the world.
Currently, the Top 5 in Asia still belongs to Japan (ranked 20th in the world), Iran (ranked 24th), South Korea (ranked 27th), Australia (ranked 29th) and Saudi Arabia (ranked 54th).
Meanwhile, Argentina has risen to the world number 1 position. In the FIFA Days friendly series in March, Argentina won 2-0 against Panama and 7-0 against Curacao.
Brazil paid a heavy price for their 2-1 friendly defeat to Morocco. Brazil not only lost the top spot to arch-rivals Argentina in the rankings, but also dropped to third place after France overtook them with back-to-back UEFA EURO 2024 qualifier victories over the Netherlands (4-0) and the Republic of Ireland (1-0).
The March FIFA rankings are of particular importance to the teams participating in the 2023 Asian Cup Finals, as the rankings will be the basis for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to seed the teams before the group stage draw.
Ranked 16th in Asia, the Vietnamese team will be in group 3, along with Bahrain, Syria, Palestine, Kyrgyzstan and Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia will be in group 4 with India, Tajkistan and Hong Kong.
Group 1 includes host Qatar, Japan, Iran, South Korea, Australia and Saudi Arabia.
Group 2 includes Iraq, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, Uzbekistan, China and Jordan.
