Project to treat local landslide embankment combined with urban development and land exploitation in Lang Chanh town area.
In previous years, both sides of the Luoi stream in Lang Chanh town suffered serious landslides, affecting people's lives. With the central budget, from October 2023, the project to handle local landslide prevention embankments combined with urban development and land exploitation in Lang Chanh town area has been implemented.
The project includes a 5.5 km long embankment and a 1.5 km long embankment crest road, expected to be completed in October 2025.
To achieve the set goals, Lang Chanh District People's Committee has directed units to soon complete and put the project into use, ensuring safety in flood and storm prevention and stabilizing people's lives.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Chau, Le Loi quarter, Lang Chanh town, said: For many years, the landslide situation at the Tongue stream has made many households live in a state of anxiety and worry. Especially, during the rainy season, the stream water rises, threatening lives and property. With the attention of the State, the project to handle local landslide prevention embankment combined with urban development and land exploitation in the Lang Chanh town area has been implemented.
Mr. Le Son Hai, Deputy Head of the Technical Department of the Lang Chanh District Investment and Construction Project Management Board, said: The District People's Committee has directed the District Investment and Construction Project Management Board to coordinate with the locality to launch a 60-day emulation campaign (November and December 2024) to complete site clearance. At the same time, the unit has arranged officers and engineers to direct and supervise the technical and quality of each project item; coordinate with functional departments and contractors to resolve difficulties and problems to ensure the project is completed on schedule.
Lang Chanh District Construction Investment Project Management Board sent technical staff to closely monitor the construction site and request the contractor to ensure progress and quality.
“Due to the heavy rain, the scarcity of construction materials and high prices, the contractor has faced many difficulties in the project construction process. With the goal of basically completing the project construction to prevent and combat floods and storms in 2025 (earlier than planned) by June 30, 2025, the unit has proactively overcome difficulties, mobilized specialized vehicles, equipment, human resources and gathered materials to the construction site, took advantage of favorable weather, and organized 3 construction teams to synchronize the project's work. Currently, the contractor has completed over 75% of the total work to be done on the embankment to prevent local landslides, combined with urban development and land exploitation in Lang Chanh town area,” said Mr. Le Thanh Chung, a field technical officer of Tan Thanh Construction and Trading Company Limited.
