Yamal receives 60% racist attacks

The 2007-born player has been under unimaginable pressure from cyber violence in recent times.

According to El Pais , a disturbing report from Spain's Observatory on Racism found that six out of every 10 racist slurs detected on social media in the land of bulls were aimed at Barcelona's Lamine Yamal.

"Yamal was the target of 60% of all racist abuse directed at footballers in Spain, twice as much as Real Madrid's Vinícius Júnior," the Spanish newspaper said.

The most intense online attack came around the Ballon d'Or awards ceremony in Paris, when the young talent was subjected to racist abuse, including being called an "illegal immigrant".

These attacks are not isolated incidents, but part of a long-standing pattern of racism based on ethnicity, skin color and religion. Although Yamal was born in Spain and holds Spanish citizenship, he has been a frequent target of attacks because of his Moroccan and African roots.
