The Yen Bai Provincial Women's Union has just coordinated with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) Vietnam and the Cooperative Alliance of Yen Bai province to organize a research workshop to evaluate the activities of cooperatives managed by women in Yen Bai province.
As of June 30, 2024, Yen Bai province has 777 cooperatives, of which 167 are managed by women with 12,420 members, accounting for 21.5% of the total number of cooperatives.
Cooperatives operate mainly in the fields of agriculture, trade services, and community tourism , contributing to creating regular jobs for over 2,000 workers and thousands of seasonal workers with an average income of about 5,000,000 VND/person/month.
However, the number of cooperatives managed by women is currently facing some difficulties and limitations such as the number of cooperatives managed by women is still small, the internal resources of cooperatives are still weak, not meeting the requirements such as capital, assets, science and technology, leadership and management capacity, etc.
