
According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Africa, at the Presidential Palace in Zimbabwe, on March 13, the Vietnamese Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa and concurrently to the Republic of Zimbabwe, Hoang Sy Cuong, presented his credentials from President Vo Van Thuong to Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Also attending the ceremony on behalf of South Africa was Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Amon Murwira.
During the courtesy meeting following the presentation of credentials, President Emmerson Mnangagwa congratulated Vietnam on its impressive achievements in socio-economic development and in enhancing its international role and standing.
Mr. Emmerson Mnangagwa also reiterated his admiration and respect for the history of the Vietnamese people's struggle for national liberation and reunification.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa requested the Ambassador to continue his efforts to foster the good political relationship between the two countries and the two ruling parties, and to promote economic cooperation and investment.
The President of Zimbabwe also introduced the strengths of this Southern African nation in various sectors and products such as mining, cotton, tobacco, etc., and expressed his desire to attract Vietnamese partners interested in investing and doing business there.
Ambassador Hoang Sy Cuong respectfully conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Vo Van Thuong to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The ambassador suggested that the two countries should strengthen exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations, through party and state channels, as well as promote people-to-people exchanges to broaden bilateral understanding and create a foundation for cooperation in all aspects.
Given the foundation of friendly and trusting political relations between the two countries, both sides need to continue to coordinate and support each other in multilateral forums, primarily at the United Nations.
The President of Zimbabwe agreed that the two countries need to further strengthen cooperation in multilateral forums.

Also on this occasion, on March 13-14, Ambassador Hoang Sy Cuong held working meetings and paid courtesy calls to Mr. Simbarashe Mumbengegwi - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Central Committee in charge of Foreign Affairs of the ruling Zimbabwe African National Union - Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF); and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Zimbabwe Amon Murwira.
Ambassador Hoang Sy Cuong also had cordial meetings with some members of the Vietnamese community in Zimbabwe, as well as Ambassadors and Chargé d'affaires of ASEAN countries in Zimbabwe (Indonesia and Malaysia) to learn about and exchange information on the local situation.
