12 football teams compete at THACO CUP 2025: A big playground for students in Ho Chi Minh City

Two major football tournaments for students, the HCM City National University Student Football Tournament - THACO CUP 2025 and the HCM City National University Student Futsal Tournament - THACO CUP 2025, have officially kicked off.

The two THACO CUP 2025 tournaments promise to create a vibrant atmosphere in the student community. This is an activity to celebrate the Vietnamese Teachers' Day on November 20 and towards the 30th anniversary of the establishment and development of Ho Chi Minh City National University.

The announcement ceremony of student football tournaments took place on November 1. Accordingly, the expanded student football tournament of Ho Chi Minh City National University - THACO CUP 2025 with a scale of 12 teams is divided into 3 groups to compete in a round-robin according to IFAB rules with 8 teams from member schools of Ho Chi Minh City National University and 4 invited teams (Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics , People's Police University, RMIT University Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law).

The teams will compete from November 19 to December 7, 2025 at Di An Ward Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City. The official opening ceremony will take place at 3:00 p.m. on November 22.

The Ho Chi Minh City National University Student Futsal Tournament - THACO CUP 2025 with the participation of 16 teams (8 men's teams and 8 women's teams) from 8 member schools of Ho Chi Minh City National University. The teams are divided into 2 groups, competing in a round-robin according to the 5-a-side futsal rules, taking place from November 6 to November 15, 2025.

The competition venues are the multi-purpose sports hall of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (for men's futsal) and the sports hall of the University of Technology (for women's futsal).

THACO CUP 2025 - Two student football tournaments strengthen physical fitness and connect the community

The organizers said that the tournaments are not only a sports playground but also maintain and spread the movement of physical training for students. In particular, this is an opportunity to enhance exchanges and connections between member schools of Ho Chi Minh City National University and guest universities in Ho Chi Minh City.

The event is also a clear demonstration of social work and community concern for student activities with the support of organizations and businesses, especially the support from generations of alumni.

The two tournaments were jointly organized by the University of Technology, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University), together with the representative board of the Phu Tho - Polytechnic Alumni Community (represented by BKA Cooperation & Development Joint Stock Company).
