Recently, AirHelp - one of the trusted leaders in airline passenger rights and flight compensation, has just announced the ranking of " The World's Best Airports in 2025".

Notably, in this ranking, Vietnam has 2 airports, Noi Bai Airport ( Hanoi ) and Tan Son Nhat Airport (HCMC), in the bottom group of the world in terms of on-time performance.

Specifically, among the 250 airports ranked this year, Noi Bai airport ranked 242nd with a total of 6.71 points. Of which, this airport received 6.4 points for punctuality; 7.2 points for passenger service and 7.1 points for shopping and dining .

Lower down is Tan Son Nhat Airport, ranked 248th with a total of 6.21 points. Of which, this airport received 6.1 points in the on-time performance category; 6.6 points in passenger service and 6.1 points in the dining and shopping category.

With this score, the two major airports of Vietnam are quite far behind the three airports leading the ranking. Among them, Cape Town International Airport in Cape Town, South Africa (with a total score of 8.57), Doha Hamad Airport in Qatar (with a total score of 8.52) and Riyadh King Khaled Airport in Saudi Arabia (with a total score of 8.47).

The data was compiled by AirHelp using millions of flight records, government statistics and passenger feedback collected from June 1 last year to May 31 this year.

This also coincides with peak tourist season. A total of 250 airports were selected from more than 4,000 airports worldwide for the ranking, based on passenger traffic and global popularity.

The data was compiled by AirHelp from three main sources: internal flight database, including actual flight departure and arrival times. The unit conducted direct surveys from more than 13,500 passengers from 58 countries and territories, listening to their real-life experiences at the airport, and evaluating airport shopping and dining provided by customers.

The total score is calculated based on factors including on-time performance accounting for 60%, passenger service accounting for 20% and shopping and dining accounting for 20%.

This shows that AirHelp considers on-time performance as a key factor in the customer experience. A flight is considered on-time if it arrives within 15 minutes of its scheduled time.

Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai airports have on-time flight rates that are said to be much lower than the global average, leading to these two airports being ranked near the bottom of the list.

Among the Top 10 best airports in the world in 2025, no airport from Southeast Asia is on the list.

However, AirHelp's results are considered contrary to the Top 100 best airports in the world 2025 ranking announced by the prestigious airline rating and ranking organization Skytrax in April.

Accordingly, Skytrax recorded that Noi Bai airport increased 17 places, rising to position 79 compared to position 96 in 2024. This is also the 7th time that Noi Bai airport has been honored by Skytrax in its rankings.

In addition, Vietnam has the second representative named Da Nang airport. Meanwhile, Tan Son Nhat airport was ranked 10th by Skytrax in the world's best airport ranking in the category of airports serving 20-25 million passengers per year in 2021.
