ANTD.VN - From now until the end of 2023, 21 districts of Hanoi will change the electricity meter reading schedule, unifying it to the last day of the month instead of each locality recording the meter on one day as it is now.

EVNHANOI changes electricity meter recording schedule

On October 10, Hanoi Electricity Corporation (EVNHANOI) provided information on production and business situation in 2023 and the implementation of electricity meter reading.

Ms. To Lan Phuong - Head of EVNHANOI Business Department said that the change in electricity meter readings will be implemented on the last day of the month. From now until the end of the year, the change in recording schedule will be implemented in 21 districts with 1.7 million electricity customers.

The remaining 9 districts (2.8 million customers) will be implemented next year. EVNHANOI will achieve the goal set by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) of completing the change in electricity meter reading by 2025.

Specifically, the meter reading date will be November 30. Thus, the number of days on next month's electricity bill will change.

Previously, EVNHANOI recorded electricity meters for residential customers from the 3rd to the 20th of each month. But with the new recording schedule, the number of days for electricity billing for different customer groups will vary, some households will have nearly 60 days, some will have more than 50 days…

"Customers will pay late for October's electricity bill and this amount will be paid next month" - Ms. Nguyen Hoang Anh - Director of EVNHANOI Customer Care Center said.

According to EVNHANOI representative, changing the meter recording schedule will not cause an unreasonable increase in electricity bills because the electricity usage of each step will be adjusted according to the actual number of days of the meter recording period.

On the bill, customers will see that the amount of electricity consumed at each step is more than the maximum level prescribed for each step. For example, at the first and second steps, the amount of electricity consumed is more than the maximum level prescribed for each step (50kWh), because the amount of electricity consumed at this level by the customer in 2 months will be added together. Therefore, the actual electricity bill that people pay will not increase unreasonably.

Customers can check electricity output, use the online electricity bill calculator to look up and calculate monthly electricity bills, and monitor daily electricity consumption. The rights of customers using electricity are guaranteed, customers can proactively check and monitor on the EVNHANOI website and app.

To implement the change of meter reading schedule, EVNHANOI reported to the state management agency, informed the electricity companies to deploy to each local government, contacted and explained to the people the benefits of changing the meter reading date to facilitate the implementation process.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thang - Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade said that adjusting the unified date of recording electricity meter readings will help industry management, settlement, unified data reporting, and avoid errors related to meter readings and invoice issuance.

"This is an existing policy and the corporation has reported to all levels to unify and synchronously implement it and disseminate information to the people," said Mr. Thang.
