22 Vietnamese students attend AIMO 2025 International Finals in Japan

TPO - Today (August 3), a group of 22 Vietnamese students began participating in the AIMO 2025 International Finals held in Japan.

The competition took place from August 3-5, attracting more than 3,100 contestants from 21 countries and territories. AIMO is one of the largest international mathematics competitions in Asia.

Candidates will take the exam at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Japan. After the exam, the Organizing Committee will hold an awards ceremony at 2:30 p.m. on August 5.

In June 2025, the National Finals of the Asian Mathematics Competition - AIMO 2025 took place at Hanoi University of Science and Technology with the participation of more than 600 contestants. Previously, the Online Preliminary round attracted more than 2,500 students from all over the country.

After 120 minutes of taking the Olympic-style test in English, the Organizing Committee awarded a total of 354 medals and selected the best candidates to represent Vietnam in the International Finals in Japan.

The international organizing committee said that AIMO is not only a Mathematical playground but also a place to connect and exchange cultures between students from different countries. Holding the International Finals in Japan this year promises to bring profound and inspiring academic experiences to the contestants.

With careful preparation and impressive achievements in the National round, the Vietnamese team is expected to achieve high results in the upcoming International Final round.

AIMO is gradually becoming one of the memorable intellectual journeys, contributing to bringing Vietnamese Mathematics closer to international standards, affirming the capacity of Vietnamese students in the global knowledge arena.

The Asian Mathematical Olympiad is an annual competition organized since 2012 by the International AIMO Executive Committee - Asian Mathematical Olympiad Association. The competition has attracted thousands of participants from many different countries such as: Brazil, Bulgaria, China, India, Thailand, Malaysia...

Vietnam participated in the AIMO competition since 2019 and quickly made its mark with more than 200 international medals, affirming the students' capacity as well as the right orientation of Vietnamese general education in developing students' thinking and foreign languages.
