3 athletes show their love for the Fatherland by swimming around Con Co Island

Athletes come to Con Co Island not for sightseeing or tourism, but to fulfill a long-cherished dream, which is to swim around Con Co Island to experience, test themselves, and contribute to promoting the landscape, environment, tourism, and security on the island.

During the trip to Quang Tri to attend the 66th Tien Phong Newspaper National Marathon and Long Distance Championship - 2025 in Dong Ha City on March 29 to celebrate the 53rd anniversary of Quang Tri province's liberation, 3 athletes: Dang Tan Phong in Ho Chi Minh City, Pham Anh Quy, Head of Run 18 Nam Dinh Club and Vu Dang, member of Run 18 Club, went to Con Co Island.

This is the first time these athletes have set foot on the island of the Fatherland, the island that has been twice awarded the title of heroic island. The athletes came to Con Co island not for sightseeing or tourism , but to fulfill a long-cherished dream, which is to swim around Con Co island to experience, test themselves, and contribute to promoting the landscape, environment, tourism, and security on the island.

Faced with the challenge of the waves, but with will and courage, after 3 hours and 29 minutes the athletes swam 7.5 km, completing the swim in the sea around Con Co Island. The moment the athletes touched the shore was very emotional, bursting into tears before the admiration of the large number of people watching the swim. Because it was not just a sports journey but a journey of determination, love for the sacred sea and islands, love for the Fatherland in their own way.

A trip - a journey - an unforgettable memory for the athletes as well as the soldiers and civilians on the beloved island of the Fatherland - Con Co.
